Does this mean Improved alacrity has no impact there? **EDIT: EVERYTHING I'VE SAID HERE IS WRONG** Unless you overcap boon duration, improved alacrity is always mathematically equivalent to normal alacrity; the choice is just whether or not you get the same boost right now or a bit later -and "right now" is always a good choice: you need the healing now, you need the phantasm now, you need the block now. So improved alacrity is always a good choice.

How much "gain" is that? **EDIT: EVERYTHING I'VE SAID HERE IS WRONG** Quick math under a 10 second timespan **NORMAL CONDITIONS**: 10s of waiting will give you 10s of recharge **WITH ALACRITY**: Apply 10s of alacrity. 10s of waiting will give you 10s of recharge. Add 30% because alacrity. At the end of the day, you waited 10 seconds to get 13.3s of recharge. **IMPROVED ALACRITY**: Applying 10s of alacrity will grant you 6.66667s of alacrity. Unless you overcap it, 10s of alacrity will always grant you 3.3s of bonus recharge on top of everything you already have. However, the recharge is more "explosive"; on tight rotations, you will be able to use your skills faster (imagine you're almost dead; activating the healing skill 2s earlier will make the difference), which on its own is already a net gain.

In doubt, don't try it anyway, just to be sure to piss everyone off. But I liked this last balance patch, it was honestly so good I still can't believe CmC made it.
  6. > Was that nerf really necessary? NOOOO MY AUTOATTACK DOESN'T DEAL 3K AOE OR WHATEVER THAT WAS AT 900 RANGE ANYMORE :( :( :( :( :(
  7. As I've said in the past, the only problem with immobilize on ranger is that jaracanda is a 9s immobilize with 20s cooldown, which makes absolutely no sense.

Thief got a honestly overdue shave, engi got some shaves to grenades without overdoing it (unlike what usually happens); they are still very strong and could use some further reduction, but they didn't get destroyed. Explosive entrance needs to have the blindless removed, as for everything else I think the damage on holo should be fine right now. It could even use some slight buffs to holo utilities (the ones everybody drops in favor of the core ones)

Where's the negative side?
  10. I honestly couldn't be happier. Grenade spam is gone, thieves now have to do something for a living other than just spamming shadow shot. Living the dream.
  11. The build is absolutely braindead. Don't think it's broken nor it deserves any nerf, but the cleaving potential it has on downed people is funny. You basically skip downstate.

You still can't deal meaningful damage from distance and the man can just heartseeker again; unless you run pistol there's no way to actually stop a thief from stealthing

Grenade kit is now trash, Holo will be fine without it, but core Engineer is not unplayable since Grenades suck. This patch is garbage. ... I mean, core engi was unplayable already well before this balance patch. It's been weeks since I've last seen one. The problems with core engi are much deeper than anything grenade kit could ever possibly do.
  15. I absolutely support this whole patch. Thief got a honestly overdue shave, engi got some shaves to grenades without overdoing it (unlike what usually happens); they are still very strong and could use some further reduction, but they didn't get destroyed. Some more revenant shaves would have been cool but honestly they are far from a priority.
  16. > @"Yasai.3549" said: > Hear me out guys : > > Revert Ini cost of Infiltrator's Arrow. > BUT > Make it no longer usable to scale up cliff-faces. > > :^) I honestly think they should have left IA cost the same initiative as it did before this patch, but the range should be reduced to 600 if used while in combat. Not sure if that's even possible with the current code, but I said what I said.
  17. > @"UNOwen.7132" said: > (Thief is actually one of the worst classes at dealing with conditions, why do you think they have to run *2* condi clear utilities). I must have missed every dodge removing chilled\cripple\immobilize, a cleanse whenever you evade an attack -with 3 dodges it tends to happen fairly often-, healing skills with either dodge or stealth + cleanse, shadowstep cleansing 3 condis (+1 if traited), signet of agility cleansing 3 condis, and after all that sit just sit in perma stealth to wait for the condis to expire if you managed to get hit by anything even after all of that
  18. Can't hear you, won't hear you, I'm listening to the cries of a hundred thousand thiefs carried by plasma being yeeted back to the dust

He admitted the change might have been heavy handed, and it's obvious he just wanted to wash his hand clean of the problem. Took them like what 7 months to unscrew the chrono no clone no shatter change?, we're passed that for the mirage screwup, they probably won't even bother with changes to the spec anymore, not when they have an expansion and probably new spec on the way to replace it, one I'm sure they'll happily nuke again. > Chrono is still in the garbage lmao

Power scrapper gets barrier for days vs minionmancers, and you can blind minions with Flash Shell if running Mortar. Ranger counters necro in general. Immob Druid, Core LB/GS, Sic Em Sniper, take your pick. > > GS Guard is my personal recommendation, purely for its fun factor. I run Radiance, Zeal, Virtues. If it has a dps modifier, I take it. Slap on zerker amulet + speed runes, run Retreat, and run around like a madman killing people with one spin. Necros are the best targets for you to bully because they think they're safe with their two health bars. > > **They're not safe.** Power shatter mesmer. It only works against necromancers nowadays, but BOI IT WORKS
  22. ITT: people act like there isn't such a concept as "squad". Like, there's only the dragonhunter and nothing else. It's not like this game is riddled with jaracandas who can root for 9s every 20s :)

I was playing thief for the first time, and yet I have been able to kill 3 of my guild mates (warrior, burn dh, chronomancer) without ever being in danger. I made every mistake that could be possibly made, but there was no way to capitalize on any of them just because of the perma blind + stealth spam; you open with 4k\5k damage whatever you do, sooner or later someone will drop below 50%. It took quite a while to get it done, but it's a guaranteed victory unless you do some real major mistake. > > a good daredevil can do 20k in like 2-3 seconds? while constantly ccing you and what not.. A bad daredevil will just jump back and forth, blind and stealth until you either drop dead or he gets bored of tiptapping around and find something else to do. The problem is not "how much good players can make out of thief", the problem is how forgiving the class is whenever you make any mistake.
  24. Even after nerfing Enhanced Capacity Storage Unit holosmiths still stack 25 stacks of might like nothing, if that doesn't say something about how broken the spec is IDK what does. About thief, this week I tried having some duels for fun with this class. 25. I'd say yes, but honestly after walking 100 metres in the shoes of a thief I only despised the class even more than I already did
