Yeah, Southsun's placement on the map is awkward but just because you don't like certain content doesn't mean that it shouldn't exists. I rather like Southsun. > > The dev's removed most of the npcs and content in the second living story update. There is actually zero content on the left of the island. I was there when the karka queen died in season 1 the entire zone was gutted and left as a pointless husk. Pure hyperbole. I've been around GW2 just as long and I do remember the changes Southsun has gone through since its release in November of 2012. Its changed but its not been "Gutted", the majority of the events it started with are still there.

Maybe in part (which could be used to explain away the lack of a true wharf that a port city would need) but it would be more post Scarlet rather than post Zhaitan. The airships were a Pact creation and save for the Aetherblades, who stole from the Pact and reverse-engineered the tech to make their own ships, no one else had airships until some time after Zhaitan's death.

I agree the mac client is garbage, and as a result nobody plays on it, but I used it to check the AH on my work pc often etc. I would play full time on the client if it ran well like the wow client... but now you guys are killing it? What the heck are all my gem purchases funding? > > Blame Apple. THIS^ There are half a dozen threads already on the closing support for the Mac client, each detailing how it is solely Apple's fault that this had to happen. Nothing short of remaking the engine for GW2 would allow Anet to continue supporting a Mac client. And just so you know your gem purchases are going to viable content and support.
  4. Frankly Waypoints never should have been acknowledged by canon or lore and remained an entirely game mechanics item.
  5. I'm not inclined to think that the D'alessio Seaboard still exists thanks to the changing sea levels caused by Orr rising. Yeah, Southsun's placement on the map is awkward but just because you don't like certain content doesn't mean that it shouldn't exists. I rather like Southsun.
  6. Can I get links to some of these couples y'all are bringing up, cause a few are pretty wild

  8. > @"Hypnowulf.7403" said: > This is unrealistic. I mean, besides, it would only further grow the MAGA* crowd and that's the last thing ArenaNet wants given how much they've been trying to deal with that narratively in the story. > > It's an ancient game—play it for what it is or let it die. It's never going to see support again as only a tiny, very unprofitable niche plays it. No amount of entitlement is going to change that. Look at it this way: If you can fund the development of the first Guild Wars out of pocket? Do it! Try to get in touch with NCSoft and tell them that you want to bankroll the rebirth of the original Guild Wars. > > I'd be the first person to say that capitalism sucks but that is the world we live in. ArenaNet is owned by NCSoft, NCSoft is a publically owned corporation, publically owned corporations are beholden to their shareholders. In order to gain Guild Wars 1 support, you'd have to convince their shareholders of the profitability of it. Right now, GW1 exists only in NCSoft's good graces as it generates PR. They seem to break even regarding server costs and the bare minimum of maintenance so they keep it running. Can you see where this is going, perhaps? > > I hope so. The point is this: The more you clamour for content? The more you endanger the game. It makes your demographic seem discontent with GW1 and if there's no PR in just keeping it running? If you aren't happy with that? There's no reason for NCSoft to keep it running. We don't even know what the profits look like for it. For all we know, as I said, the only reason they're running it is because they think it might be marketing for Guild Wars 2. That the money generated by your playing of this game grants the original some worth. If that isn't the case, they could just sunset it. > > In other words, you're hammering the nails into your own coffin. Entitled fans tend to be their own self-fulfilling prophecy of doom. > > Just keep in mind that it isn't us you need to convince, nor ArenaNet for that matter—you need to be talking with NCSoft and their shareholders. All this is doing is making it look less and less worthwhile to keep Guild Wars 1 running. For every thread like this, you're really adding a nail to that coffin. If NCSoft execs see this, they might just shrug and decide to pull the plug and you'll have done that to yourself. > > If you really enjoy Guild Wars 1—and I don't, so I am telling you this for your sake—then the best thing to do is quietly enjoy it while it lasts. > > * _Make Ascalon Great Again._ Yeah, yeah, a lot of us are quite aware of your biases against GW1, it players, NCsoft, and Free Market capitalism, among various other things you like to bring up. Repeatedly. Its pretty rich for you to accuse GW1 vets of being entitled.

People should buy gems with real cash. A lot of gems. Even more than a lot. Anet would greatly appreciate the cash. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > you can't earn when you don't pay, if they hire ppl to make the minion skins it would actually make income. > > > > > > > > > > > > Have you run a business? In the US, you have to pay for things other than salaries, and you would be paying for that on day one before any work would even begin on these skins. You also seem to assume that these skins would make a LOT of money. If they were placed in the gem store for 800 gems (or 1200), how many players would actually pay cash for gems to buy them rather than simply convert gold -> gems? That conversion brings in no capital. > > > > > > > > > > > > It would take more than making a few skins to afford extra employees to do that work. > > > > > > > > > > > > My earlier point was that players should purchase a LOT more gems with cash to infuse the company with capital. However, in order to invest you need capital first. I suppose you could take out a business loan for the capital, but I really don't see Anet asking NCSoft for more money. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > they did have a lay-off run so if things went well they actually saved allot of income, less employees and such. > > > > Again, the layoffs had nothing to do with GW2. > > but it does have to do with Anet which directly affects GW2. The layoffs were...allegedly for a project unrelated to GW2, Anet was supposedly trying to branch out.

As you can/people apparently do still put money into the game, yes you should have access to support for issues, but I question why the game is still going when GW2 has been around as long as it has. Simply put, because a lot of people still like it and play it. There is a demand for it and Arenanet has said that they'd keep it up as long as people played it, and my understanding is that it doesn't really cost much to leave it open.

  18. I'm not so sure that even during GW1's heyday that Anet would alter so many skill just to buff heroes, though I suppose they might have done the opposite a couple of times. I also don't think there is currently anyone at Anet could _could_ improve the Heroes AI in order to make melee Heroes work better. All I want is for them to crack down on scammers, botters, and hackers. There are still paying customers playing GW1, Anet does still have an obligation to provide a safe service for them.

Take it back to the General Discussion Sub-Forum were it belongs before the mods ban you or something.
