Zerg support has been hit hard by nerfs and it not in a decent spot right now. > > As it stands, the best use for core class I found is as "quick attunement rotation", typical cantrip strategy that worked with d/d ele back in the days, still somehow work. Other than that it depends on how you want to play, the class is really unforgiving and at times feels useless, I can still manage something on the class ( more because people always think an ele player as easy kill ) but overall **the class is not optimal in any game mode**....it's just mostly viable depending on the player's skills Viable in any game mode? A profession that needs 2000 toughness and at least 18k hp in the open world is not designed to be viable, it's a complete disaster! In order to make it "sort of" viable you have to force and squeeze all the useful stats that compensate for the bad design this profession is suffering. Either it gets a serious quality balance patch or we'd all better stop playing it. This profession is at the very bottom tier and it will never see better days. It has been years since people started pointing out to ArenaNet that elementalist is underperforming and badly designed, probably nobody in the studio plays this profession because the flaws are so big it's impossible not to notice them and the bonus part is you don't even need to be an expert to do so.
  2. How is ArenaNet dealing with hackers in PvP, any news? I have seen necros using teleport hacks on youtube and he was probably not the only one hacking in this game. IP ban would be a good start to punish these transgressions
  3. Hi Wisely.4819, I don't have a direct experience with marshal stats but you can watch Cellofrag on youtube to get a good view at how they perform on your sword weaver. The difference in DPS is not too much of an issue either and you can play WvW and PvP with those stats.
  4. If you are looking for a decent PvE open world weaver build forget snowcrows and metabattle raid builds, their weaver builds are so squishy and elementalist is the squishiest designed profession with a complex rotation and it doesn't even top the damage meters for being a glass cannon as there are other professions who are tankier, easier to play and do a lot of damage baseline like all of them. Unless we get some serious PvE buffs who are not aiming to make the profession significantly overpowered I would go for the marshal or dire/trailblazer condi build to be on par with the self sustain other professions get baseline or rolling another profession and stop playing elementalist altogether because the Meta in PvE is already set in stones and is not seeing any significant balance improvements. I use staff as my secondary weapon to swap to on my weaver in order to get the job done on those annoying fights that are not melee friendly and seriously punish players for playing a melee build. As a weaver, outside of Signet of Earth, you lack strong hard CC on demand combos like the dragonhunter's Bane Signet+Dragon's Maw combo or Thief's conditions+Signet of shadows+Basilisk Venom combo. I am sure the other professions have better break bar damage than elementalist except Deadeye which has been left with weak break bar damage to compensate on nothing but single target dps.

Your false accusations make no sense. I think we all missed the chance to dive deep into Vlast's story and now that he is dead I feel upset because he didn't have a chance. > > Who are you kidding? Many of us would liked to see more of Vlast, but you are the only framing it as a choice between male and female characters. If you don't have a problem with female characters, why are you framing your argument as the studio's failure with masculinity? Where is this failure? Vlast's death is not evidence of a failure. The only thing you offer as evidence is Aurene's gender. Masculinity was only a marginal part of this thread, you are exaggerating things making it look like a major argument on purpose for unknown reasons. I can't talk about gender equality and masculinity in this forum because the forum's policies are limiting my freedom of speech and you are trying hard to fish for something to blame on me, this is backed up by your previous post: "Aurene's gender and role as the protagonist only qualifies as evidence if you are predisposed towards not wanting female protagonists". I would say you are being very rude to address people this way publicly and writing lies in order to manipulate information in order to win an argument and I am surprised none of the moderators have stepped forward to delete your post. I don't know how you define or how you value masculinity but I can tell you since we lost Trahearne and Vlast the game is lacking male role models especially for all the positive qualities a manly man can embody, the commander now has taken the role of the one who is leading the story, leading an army, always trying hard to answer perfectly in any situation, always working hard and taking responsibility to solve everything, including someone else's problems, always trying to be reasonable and then you have to share the story with NPCs who are in love with each other like Faolin and Caithe, Caithe and Aurene, Kasmeer+Mrjory, all these sisteromances are so abundant they make me sick because when it comes to male characters Trahearne who took the mantle of the pact marshal was killed off and hated for meaningless reasons, Braham acting like a disobedient brat who is stubborn and doesn't listen the commander because he is so full of adrenaline and insecure that he keeps throwing himself into dangerous situations without planning, than we have to share the story with Logan who is not directly helpful and not very present and he has this relationship with Queen Jenna as if she was the princess in distress he must save all the time and if the queen needs him he won't help the commander or the pact, GW2 started with a Queen, where is the King? Vlast made a short appearance and suddenly went boom, exploded as if the writers didn't want to invest brainpower and time on a male character, as a result the protagonists are mostly females, excluding the commander which can be anything, and there is little value given to manliness. I am not here to blame anyone working on the game, I am only pointing out what the game is missing and what can be adjusted to improve the reputation and he likeness of the NPCs and how the story is progressing. *-I want to see male characters who are capable to lead part of the story. *-I don't want to play the perfect commander all the time because that is boring. *-I want to see more male characters putting their brain together and being able to cooperate. *-I want to see some bromance because the game is full of sisteromance already. *-I really want to see at least an NPC making me feel involved in the story, someone like a bro I can trust and works with me to progress the story and make me feel rewarded for cooperating with other NPCs. I don't know where you come from and if my value are as positive as your values when it comes to these sort of debates but I am not having any nonsense from anyone and if you want further philosophical arguments with me I advice you to use the private messaging or discord. If you want a fair and civilized exchange with other people you really have to curb this habit of making assumptions and falsely interpret other people's claims because that is not something that leads to a positive debate.
  6. The keys would only be worth my money if the drop rate was better. At the moment the gold to keys investment is a huge gold loss and I am not supporting this practice. EDIT: I play GW2 with a windows client, just to point out for those who wonder...
  7. I like skins that look natural and not bulky or silly. My favourites are Prince Rurik cape and Spellforged outfit and I look at GW2 with optimism that the game designers would work at some pretty armour pieces like this one: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/overlordmaruyama/images/3/37/Touch_Me_Databook.png/revision/latest?cb=20170319002900 Or this one: https://mlpnk72yciwc.i.optimole.com/cqhiHLc-RkvNoabS/w:600/h:600/q:75/https://bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/MAFEX-Mandalorian-Beskar-Armor-001.jpg
  8. I think it's safe to say that presenting an argument over a 1vs1 comparison is not valid because there are no pvp modes where you are limited to face only 1 opponent. The game wouldn't be balanced if you could play a 1 Meta build who beats everything else because everyone would play it. It's still possible to burst a support in PvP, including bunkers. You can doublecheck yourself by watching streamers like Phantaram or Cellofrag who play self sustain builds, they are not immortal at all. These builds don't excel at anything in particular.
  9. I wouldn't say it's not heavily populated because despite playing in a high population server I struggle to see people doing Meta events in general but ArenaNet's focus is all on the Windows client version of the game and they have a lot of improvements ready for us. EDIT: ops sorry I meant it's not, I have missed one detail while writing fast
  10. Hammer deserves to become the next Meta 2hander in the future. Nothings hits harder than a fat hammer, and there is no armour type that can save your bones from the bash. Not many Meta builds use hammers in PvE.

Thank you for pointing that out. I am a man who can't live without good hopes. So hopefully someone from the studio reads my message and can spread the love.
  12. Hi Andrew, thank you for choosing to communicate with us gamers, I hope this will be the beginning of a regular communication between the studio and the players. We are all committed to make GW2 a better game as much as the studio does, the only things we can do, however, is writing feedbacks and discussions. I am glad to know you are very interested in delivering a good raiding experience, this is one of my favourite modes at the moment but it feels very hard for new and casual players and because there is no difficulty scaling in raid like in other MMORPGs I can see a lot of improvements you can do to make it more popular. Fractal scaling could go up forever like mythic dungeons work in WoW for example with slightly better rewards and a challenge worth for the very experienced gamers who like hard challenges. Have a good day and I hope to read more from you. Take care

  14. The reason why I have spent real money to buy the whole Crystal Saga is because I like the lore and ArenaNet is doing a good job in keeping the game interesting with new content and modes that bring something new to the game. As a customer, my choice to buy EoD or not will depend from the finale of this content which hopefully will bring some balance to the current state of the game.

I don't like NPCs who behave like teenagers, I am tired of listening to the annoying voice of *Taimi and the Kasmeer+Marjory sisteromance. Enough boys, Anet, give this game proper manly NPCs. > oh.... one of "those". My argument is not weird at all, if you think so please quote the parts you see any weirdness and define weirdness please so we can understand each other. Also, what do you mean I am one of "those"? Are you calling me one of those because I mentioned the word manly? Does masculinity in an online game scare you or what? What is wrong in being manly exactly? You tell me... This thread so far has been very useful and the people writing here polite enough, the debate helps people understand and make sense of the current Lore available to us, this goes perfectly in line with the topic. I am very pleased with all the lore debate I have had so far as I have never played GW1 before and that part of the lore is not well known to me and I think many other people will find it interesting to dive deep into the lore.
  16. @Konig Des Todes.2086 I won't quote your post in my reply because it's really long. Thank you for doing your research and taking your time to write a lot of information about the lore in GW1. I have to admit I have made a mistake while presenting my argument so I am going to rephrase my point about the cinematic: "The commander suffered stab wounds, severe skin burns and a fireball the size of an Asura being thrown to his/her face capable to make the commander's head explode for the impact". I am sure we can agree about this now that we both double checked the cinematic. Regards
  17. Best way to get into raiding is joining a raid training session and learn the mechanics or, if there are no guilds who can offer you this service, start your own guild and read raid guides. Before entering a raid make sure your build and equipment is raid ready, and this means full exotic with the best stats for your raiding build and a decent raid build. Simple as that. Raids are no very hard in this game, once you clear a wing 1 or 2 times you will be ready to raid in pugs.

This doesn't mean the commander's body was resurrecction-worthy as you assume. For instance we don't know which race or gender the commander belongs to in canon so it could perfectly be an asura and the body ending as badly as Vlast or a Norn with a 30 inch hole on his/her body. > > ... > Do you have any relevant source of information about precise state of the commander's body to support your claims? > The answer to your question can be found watching the cinematic, I don't have to prove to you any more details as the cinematic speaks for itself. Of course you can't see all the gore and violence the commander suffers in the cinematic, it's a PEGI 12 game, I have explained my point about this and I have been very clear. > @"anninke.7469" said: >Also, please don't do the "you don't have the authority" thing just because someone says what you don't like. Of course Anet has the final word over their game, but I hope they don't overuse it at the cost of lore consistency (too much). > You just contradicted yourself reinforcing my point by claiming Anet has the final word over their game, what makes your assumption a valid claim? You provided no evidence to support your assumption therefore it's not even a theory.

  20. > @"Smoosh.2718" said: > Sadly the rise in cheaters isnt exclusive to just Gw2. Realworld punishments should be put into the terms and conditions for the act of cheating tbh. This and only this will stop people from cheating. Make it financial. Get caught, get fined. > > All game companies go under the basis that you get caught, you get banned. The banned user creates a new account and cheats again. Nothing stops the cheater with this method. This is not right because it would make cheating a luxury of the rich who can afford paying the fine and cheating in online game is not considered a criminal offence in any legislation. It's a bad thing to do indeed but you have to consider the consequences of a real life punishment for cheating in a game. IP ban is a decent punishment.
  21. I can't see how core elementalist can compete with elite specs in all modes, is ArenaNet planning to address this issue or not? Tempest feels like a better core elementalist with overload skills, it doesn't feel as if it added some variance to the profession. I have played all elite ele specs and I hardly notice any difference between core and tempest. Both support and dps are sitting outside of the current Meta in PvE, especially in fractals. The only support tempest I have seen so far in 15 raid session was not even a full healer build, the profession's popularity is decreasing, how are you dealing with this issue. I believe in the philosophy that high risks mean high rewards, and this is why I am currently playing elementalist as a weaver, it has the highest amount of skills in the game but they don't hit hard enough to feel rewarding. The profession itself is very squishy baseline, low hp, low base armor, this should be addressed with a balance patch. Marshal stats and bunker build shouldn't be the solution for everything as it confines one profession into a 1 trick pony that doesn't excel on any role. Sword animations are too slow and predictable, this profession doesn't shine for hard CC or stealth mechanics and has low mobility baseline making it unable to compete with other professions. TLDR: Elementalist needs to be addressed to add more variety and reward players who mastered it with the high skill cap needed to play it decently. What you can do to address this issue, you can rework tempest adding more variety to the elite spec from the core and add 1 of the following boons to the kit either alacrity, quickness or precision raid wide. It won't hurt other professions who provide these buffs but it would definitely make elementalist more attractive to recruit in squads. Increase the speed of sword weaver animations because the elite spec revolves around sword and it was designed for that purpose and add hard CC to the kit like stun or knockback. Increase the amount of barrier provided by hitting with dual attacks to compensate for the squishy nature of this profession and the vulnerability of being in melee range exposing it to all direct damage and making it unable to kite with ranged attacks. Game mode: I am referring mostly to PvE, because PvP and WvW elementalist is only viable as a 1 trick pony bunker build. Zerg support has been hit hard by nerfs and it not in a decent spot right now.

One was burnt, the other impaled. > > But we had very special circumstances that can't be easily done again, not by us and not by other characters. > > The Commander's body was in one piece. There might have been burns, but burns can be healed. Exploding is a different matter. If you replay the instance, the Commander's body is in solid condition when resurrecting (from being a corpse on the ground to floating up). Any injuries would be healed. > > If the Commander was a pile of ash as some people believe [because of this misleading item](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Urn_of_%22Heroic%22_Ashes), then the Commander wouldn't have been capable of resurrecting without a new body (like Shiro). > > As for Aurene, technically she never died. Her heart was pierced and she couldn't heal herself with Kralk's brand still imbedded, so it _seemed_ like death, but it was more of a comatose state. > > And even then, Vlast's body had literally exploded into a few dozen pieces. Trahearne's body seems similar given the final cinematic in HoT. These are very different from being stabbed and burned a bit. I am sorry but I have to disagree with your flawed assumption before Anet chooses to consider it canon for future references. The commander has suffered serious burns, cut wounds and ultimately been skewered by a huge big greatsword wide enough to split the body in two, the reason why you see no such conditions on the commander's body is because this game is PEGI 12 and it's not supposed to be too graphic on gore and violence. This doesn't mean the commander's body was resurrecction-worthy as you assume. For instance we don't know which race or gender the commander belongs to in canon so it could perfectly be an asura and the body ending as badly as Vlast or a Norn with a 30 inch hole on his/her body. Second point is you don't have the authority to claim which character is considered to be retired from the game, only ArenaNet has that authority and you should leave that kind of claim to them. Your assumption is not even a theory because you revolve your claims over one case of death experience in canon, the commander, and that is neither enough to expand the rule on everything else nor a factual theory you can generalize with. I believe death has a lot of voids to fill in this game's lore with a lot of questions that are still unanswered and the only authority to answer these questions about the afterlife falls again on those who write and approve the lore, not you. We know dragons feed on ley-line energies to grow bigger like Aurene and the other elder dragons did. We know ley-line energies can convert into matter so it's still valid to assume that a spirit can come back to life on its own physical body if there is enough energy available to be consumed in order to achieve this task, this doesn't contradict the way the commander came back to life if you have played the story and remember what you had to do to escape the domain of the lost. This also means that any NPC, good or bad, big or small, could come back to life if there is enough energy to be spent to perform the task, I would extend this concept to Gods as well because they are NPCs. This implies the consequences that a dead powerful being would come back to life weakened, especially if the energy of its original body has been consumed or absorbed by other NPCs. Nothing stays dead unless a gaming company chooses to retire an NPC permanently and even this doesn't automatically imply that it cannot be resurrected, it just means that the NPC has been retired from the game and it won't make a new appearance.
  23. > @"Amanda Whitemoon.6173" said: > > @"Fipmip.7219" said: > > > I never thought of trahearne as stealing credit. If you think about the original story, he organizes the pact and cleanses orr. The commander is sent on missions by trahearne and is generally used as a beat stick to clear out key objectives and kill high ranking enemies. The backup, the means, the intel, is mostly provided by allies. You get to be the sword that kills the foe, but you were wielded by trahearne. I think perhaps people might have whined due to not getting enough recognition in the dialogue, perhaps being referred to as the dragon slayer might have helped. But I never truly understood it. In any case, I think giving full reigns to the commander wasn't really the right move. the commander at this stage feels more like a plot device than a character. > > i agree with this, but this is probably not what people dislike him, its the way it is is portrayed, and the voice actor. > > same with game of thrones's final season, i understand she had to go mad and arya had to ignore her list, but it was all portrayed so badly. > > But i have a feeling thats very common these days, alot of great stories are ruined because things arent portrayed in a way that makes sence and blatand disregard for established lore > > I am totally fine with the voice of Matthew Brenher, his voice acting was decent. Anet should really stop to listen to those minorities who don't like characters based on gut feelings and start valuing the remaining characters more than they do. I would trade Braham for Trahearne anytime, I don't like that spoiled norn baby, I like male characters who have a good attitude to lead and have a strong personality and at the moment I can't see any of the male NPCs being up to these standards unless Anet chooses to fix masculinity in this game and make it more relevant.
  24. I am still using FGS as a power sword weaver. Rotation is pretty slow due to the slow animations of the skills. Wave self doesn't forgive mistakes, for the time it takes to complete it and the efforts it takes I would wait for a balance patch before using it outside of PvP modes. Elementalist at the moment is bottom tier in PvE and only condi is worth something.
  25. I think the Trahearne hate is just unreasonable, he never stole the commander's glory he actually congratulates him more than once. The reason why people hated him is because he was in command as a Marshal and some people don't like to be the second in command, unfortunately that is how hierarchy works, even in life and there is nothing wrong with it. I have been quite happy to have him as my superior as he was taking all the responsabilities of leading an army for me.
