I agree... and I truly don't make a "sport" out of breaking into 1v1 fights if I recognize them. In this particular case it was pretty fast paced and I really didn't expect to see someone 1v1'ing there. My server mate was already down and it looked like a spike was imminent... I didn't have, or take, time to sit back and ask.. As I was running through I just hit the power and hoped that yes his cooldowns were still resetting so I could finish it and get caught up with my group which was way ahead. Typically I will bow to a single person especially if we stop him at a camp and he fights like a beast. I know a warrior "Hitman" on BG. Nasty guy.. (well real super nice guy)... but I can't beat him if I'm alone... ever!

Three of us fought him at north camp for a while until another one or two came and we ground him down. He shot me a whisper (not a mean one), and I laughed and said Hey man.. I can't kill you! I gotta bring help. Much respect to that guy. I've seen him nuke multiple opponents at times that made it look like he was hacking... but he doesn't hack.. he's just that good. I'll still fight him if I see him.. and die... but maybe one of these days I'll figure out how to beat him... not sure if I can... these old 60 year old action/reactions just aren't what they used to be! :)

yes. But they didn’t have wp’s to revive on and come back again and again.. kinda different in the... game :)

as for respect, many times I bow after taking someone down.. esp if he was outnumbered and fought hard.

Totally agree. I would definitely buy minor changes if they were available, but I don’t buy the total makeover unless I’m changing multiple things. There are a number of changes I would make right now if I could buy little tweaks.

    > Sorry my earlier post offended you enough to report me and get me a warning, Balthazzarr. Guess I know why you made this post to begin with, now.

Accepted... and please understand that there's nothing that I've posted that should invoke anger, in my opinion. It humoured me a little that someone came after me even after I apologized. So it then prompted me to start a discussion and remind my friends and frenemies out there that it's 'war'. Hopefully fun war.. but war nonetheless. :)

  7. It's an interesting and sometimes polarizing topic isn't it? What I didn't mention in my OP was that by habit I typically do NOT interfere people when I know they are doing a 1v1 duel. But also as noted, if you are dueling in a HOT zone and not out of the way you are seriously at risk.

The other point about say 5 people going after 1? Hey if that 1 person is a roamer who is going to take a camp and let's say we see him.. of course we're not going to let him just to get the camp... it's WAR... he must be sent back to his WP. That's life in WvW folks. Not mean, not ignorant.. not fun for the receiver... but part of the game. As has been noted above.. I get ganked all the time when I'm roaming as well. I curse at the !@#$!@#$ that killed me... but not in anger.. just because they caught me. Then I go out again.

My bottom line is if you duel in a hot zone you are bound to get killed by a person or people running through, period. ;)

It's a little 'tongue in cheek' and not a real big deal. But yes I will say that the message is in my OP... If you are in the way that I'm running through and it's not one of those "known" 1v1 zones... it's a good chance I'm going to hit you. It is the WvW after all, not buddy sit on the stands and watch 1v1 time.

    > >

    > > I have to wonder on another topic you mentioned Strider.... what would you consider a cheese Soulbeast build?

    >

    > I don't consider it cheese. I also feel like you came here to vent. Vs an actual discussion. But hey, you aren't alone.

ya I hear ya... but not vent really.. more a little amused but still wanting to remind folks that it is, after all, a war zone. Yes I do agree that it would have been nicer to down then carry on and I'll actually leave it at that.. unless it's a thief... I have a penchant for going after those guys simply because of the stealth. If I can get them I will.. but then again I don't think I've ever seen any thief in a 1v1 in wvw.

Having said all I've said I will give a little bit on my stance and, if I survive my interference (if when I do it), I will down and not finish.. unless my ally says keeeel himmmm..

    Cheers!

    > > As for items that can't be removed, I would not recommend Windswept Haven to any decoration-focused guild. Far too much is pre-decorated; the original two guild halls have much more bare canvas to work with.

    >

    > Ya know I never found that banner either. I thought it was for the gilded hall at the time (my guild had Lost Precipice when I was searching for it).

    > All in all I've found something in all three halls that I liked. The newest is more decorated with static objects and it does pose challenges to decorating around them but the new war room is so epic I have to give it a favorable bump for that very special feature. But yes the two older halls offer more of a blank canvas for the decorator. :)

The War Room... aka my office... filled with gifts from my most awesome guild mates and other goodies that make it a nice place to go and chill.

As for the pre-decorations I totally agree. There are TONS of decorations in our storage that we really can't use. All the big hills and ruins combined with the pre-decorated structures really do make it impossible to use a huge part of the , (hundreds and hundreds of gold and months worth of grinding), decorations. I really love Windswept Haven... But it really does bug me that the design makes it largely decor prohibitive compared to the other two halls. I had Lost Precipice maxed out at 2000 decorations placed... I'll bet I only have half of that in WH and no other place really to decorate more despite the fact that they are roughly the SAME size in area!

... I might have to continue my SAB platforms "in the sky" and make a village way up there...

  14. > @"Oldirtbeard.9834" said:

    > Better hundreds than thousands though.

If I'm being honest .... along with weeks of grinding I probably spent anywhere from 1000 to 2000 (probably more) gold on my hall between upgrades and decorations... as I said I lost track but it was far from cheap and easy... especially doing it with very little help.

  15. The mine is the worst in Windswept Haven... At least in the other halls you had a wp to get to it quickly once you were there. Even had decor in Lost Precipice... but in the new hall I'm not wasting time with decorations in there.. it's way too far out of the way to even go to, to look around. imo it should be closer and the Market and Tavern should be switched around since the Tavern is visited more than the Market, by far from what I can see... Having them all in one large structure (mall like) would be even better.

  16. I agree that the "canned" decorations, as nice as they look, should be removable if wanted. The other two halls were nicely empty and gave us the opportunity to decorate every corner as we wished. Windswept Haven is a little more of a challenge for a couple of reasons; the predecorations that can't be touched, and the distance away of the things most useful like the tavern. In Lost Precipice the Tavern was right next to the nodes and scribe crafting station, the war room and other items were a little further down but also grouped usefully. In Windswept Haven everything is very spread out.. I love the place and we've decked it out superbly... but as Kamara noted... It isn't apparent where things are and they're so spread out that it's a little cumbersome.

We can't change the layout obviously and at this point wouldn't want to... but it would be very cool if we could have some way of removing, moving, changing, the canned decor that comes with the hall.

... and one big vote for Guild Banner Flags instead of the canned flags that really mean nothing to the Guild :)

Still overall a great job ANet... Just a little wishlist ;)
