  1. Probably will be problematic since it will directly affect d/p and p/d - both are fairly hated in pvp/wvw. The changes will either make those sets stupidly broken or ruin about the only build somehow viable in pvp (i am not talking about silver plays here). They really need to decide weither d/d should be power or condi spec.

To answer your questions: yes and yes. That is what makes pvp so enjoyable: the challenge. What doesn't make it so enjoyable is short-sighted profit oriented development strategies. I will stay by my point: the moment pvp became p2w was the moment when it became less enjoyable for me (and i think for many other as well otherwise my friend list consisting mainly of pvp'ers that used to be pretty long wouldn't be so gray today). A lot of things people complain today on pvp and wvw forums are direct consequence of the those profit-oriented decisions (elite spec = need to be an upgrade to core with a lot of spammy and do it all design so company can make moneyz).

Also please remove clone/phantasm generation, virtrues, invuls, stances, kits, pets and all the things that annoy us from WvW - it would make combat soooo enjoyable, rite?
  5. Just rotate and try to keep as many enemies as possible busy so your team has chance to cap. If your team is just as silly then focus on points. I don't want to be that kind of person but getting out of silver seriously shouldn't be that hard given that it is infested with bots. At least i felt bad for the enemy team when i ended up in silver after placements when i got back into game - it was stupidly one-sided. > @"Norbe.7630" said: > > @"Khalisto.5780" said: > >those scourge bots smash 90% of those silver players > > lol > > > > Oh dear...
  6. Tbh, the only thing that Anet wants us to play is elite specs, preferably from new Xpac. Given no new xpac yet i would say they want us to mainly play guards and necros atm.

I have 1-2 renegades on each team every match but yeah it feels like player vs DH atm.

As it does Reaper, which you don't really see complaining much about its weak matchup because the rationale is fairly obvious. Although good reapers and mesmers alike stand roughly even chances against the thief with a +/- 10% variance based on skill level given the 55/45 WR favoring the thief. > > This is my bone with the past months' thief treatment. **The "issue" most players have is clearly D/P thief,** yet the nerfs hurt other thief builds far more than stealth ones. IDK about you, but the combined nerfs to IA and Signet of Agility in PvP are VERY noticeable for a sword main hand. I suggest you to play core d/p in pvp. You would be amazed (Warning: you might want to destroy your keyboard or monitor, so make sure to secure those). DD or rather P2W formula for pvp is the "issue" but it will never be fixed because company wants quick money.

  10. > @"Psycoprophet.8107" said: > This thread is pointless. The majority of high plat players are there because they have another competent teammate to team up with. If u removed the ability to q with friends most of the top players would fall hard, if not all. Some of these players will admit that but most won't cuz its to hard for them to admit, kinda sad. I've heard sindrener and other known players state on their streams they wont solo q on their main for obvious reasons, they'd be in gold most of the season. Im not saying u can't reach plat solo, I have many times but with the matchmaking and low population there are matches even these highly skilled players can't carry. In 6 yrs I've watched popular streamers not one solo q'd to plat and not one stayed in plat solo q'ing. > The times I've seen a few steamers solo q they are raging by the end of their 2nd or 3rd match. That is my observation as well. Also, rating gains/loses come in play as well. 1 loss in plat is often worth 2 wins which means you basically need nearly 65-70% winrate to just stay in plat. It is kind of against the algorithm however. So yeah. Eventually you will hit the "duo queue or don't queue" at all wall. I won't even start on win trading (seen enough of it myself).
  11. People in silver probably don't read pvp forums, tbh. Even if you tell people in match not rush far and get wiped by enemy respawn, they still do it. Also, your glorious far pusher is always there thinking he is contributing by feeding enemy team. I just gave up at this point.

As someone with 10k+ games across 2 accounts, waiting 1:30 min is really not an issue. You think this is wasted time? How about 1.5 hours queue just to lose twice as many points as you gain for win - yeah that was waste of time. Honestly waiting hours for some map events you need to repeat for some collection is actually worse. Gaming itself is waste of time badumms. I think 1 min 30 sec is fine, it allows people with toaster to load and, for those who want, to switch build/class. One of the best part of GW2 pvp is that matches are actually short. Your typical LoL match would go for 30-40 min >.<

I also have an alt account where I have purely PvP'd so far, I actually made it so I was able to queue with some friends who just got into guild wars 2.. I was comfortably sitting in plat 2 at the moment and didn't want to ruin my rating on it so yea.. created a new account to queue with them.. Unfortunately with only one at a time obviously so everytime they were online at the same time I had to sit in discord, doing something else on my main or do Unranked.. Still don't like the lack of full team queue or basically any reason why communities/guilds should form within pvp. > But I'm starting to get my first char to Lv 80 (obv. without HoT/PoF since no char could've unlocked any of it) and I don't feel underpowered or anything tbh. I'm also playing teef because I like thief in open world the most. So how comes you realize how powercreeped the game is now? I mean.. obviously it actually is but I don't feel a big difference when swapping from my main to alt account other than the better equip aka higher stats (which is a thing, even when downscaled). > > Btw, I hopped into Guild Wars 1 yesterday and to my surprise there were STILL GvG going on where I could even spectate! Mind blown.. (and yet GW2 requires you to be Anet partner to spectate.. what a kitten) > There were several GvG taking place at the time I logged in and one guild was even rank idk.. 240 or something.. Sooooo.. at least this many guilds are actively fighting GvGs apparently? Really mind boggling imho.. Feels like Guild Wars 1 still has a bigger PvP community than GW2 lmao.. On the other hand GW1 also offers sufficient PvP content and enough incentives to actually engage with one another.. even tho there haven't been any changes for years (other than slight skill changes veeeery occasionally) > I don't know why I'm so surprised by this tbh, maybe because some of the other game modes are practically dead.. But even for them I knew that there are still some communities which regularly schedule queueing up. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
  15. There are problems with this suggestion: majority of players are not plat 2/3 (for good reason). If the game is balanced around ONLY opinion of top players (and it has been from time to time) it won't improve experience of the majority of pvp community AND there still will be some really broken builds out there because (newsflash!) top players are just as biased as your average silver/bronze player (shout out to Helseth).
  16. > @"DoomNexus.5324" said: > > @"Cynz.9437" said: > > Reality is (...) the game is old > I never understood that kind of mentality. It's a mmo after all, not a call of duty with a 1 year life cycle. WoW is almost 18 years old and still going strong. Content and population wise. > I know I know, everybody's mind after reading that is probably "U CAN'T COMPARE F2P/B2P MMO WITH SUB".. sure I can.. not only are some f2p games generating a lot more cash (why do you think most online games nowadays went or are directly released as f2p in the first place?) than WoW but I'd argue that if a game studio can't sustain its games then it either needs to shift the business model/something about generating cash in general or just shut it down.. > A lot of game studios are developing some cash grab mobile kitten and compensate their relatively low revenue from other projects via that.. Diablo Immortal, Fallout Shelter, The Elder Scrolls: Blades, Call of Duty Mobile, Black Desert Online Mobile, ... "basically every major ip atm" mobile, .. just to name a few. Either as a direct mobile port or some form of spinoff garbage with the franchise tagged onto it so people are interested. I'm genuinely surprised it took Riot so long to push LoL to mobile. > > Not all are complete garbage tho, I've heared that CoD mobile is actually enjoyable since they don't push a new game every year but actually maintain the one game. Well i knew a lot of good players (many won tourneys), my friend list today is dead. Even those that would stick to this game for long time have left it. Things that should have been added to pvp since launch were introduced way too late. PvP community at launch was HUGE. it died due to 0 changes for really long time and then got even smaller after pvp was turned into p2w. Why would someone get GW2 now? Not to mention to even pvp? There are plenty of newer, prettier, nicer games out there. Maybe they don't have great pvp but pvp was always a niche anyway. This game still doesn't have player vs AI mode to teach new players. They go in, try things out, get murdered by next p2W meta build and leave it. I raid a lot atm and this is the feedback i get from my guildmates. You won't be getting people like this in pvp. The only reason why i personally got back to GW2 is because i got tired of LoL/OW and missed GW2 combat. I missed to run around as shiney teef and backstab people. Thing is, i am a veteran player, i know how to play this game, i have plenty of things that i don't need to grind. I generally don't face issues that new players do. Every time i get on my alt account to mess a bit on core build i realize HOW powercreeped this game became (and it still blows my mind that they actually nerfed core thief build, how can someone be so.... ah i am out of pc words here). It is really this bad. Why would someone invest a lot of money into an old game just to pvp? Mobile GW2? Sure. The money will be invested into some pve content anyway.
  17. > @"Yasai.3549" said: > All..... is vain? I see you are a man/woman of culture :) As for thread: yeah, i am not fan of podium thing tbh. I don't see how it reduces toxicity in pvp but it is just me. 50% w/r is fine. It means you got to the point where you belong. Every matchmaking in every pvp game actually aim for that. People will end up in gold/plat and whatever division they don't belong to because pvp community in this game is too small. What they should have done is to create healthy pvp environment (class balance, maps, rewards, tournaments) at launch when the game was fresh and community was interested in this game mode. Now we are just visitors at the funeral :<

Engie/holo, ranger can be built to be highly mobile but that requires certain builds and set ups, thief will 90% of the time have short bow steal and shadow step. Thief also has sb and shs 90% of the time because it is forced to do so.
  19. Beside server issue, have you tried dx12 add-on for gw2? Even with RTX this game was running pretty poorly for me until i switched to dx12. There is post in technical support section of the forums informing how to do it.
  20. > @"Asuran.5469" said: > There should be a hard separation between which divisions can even queue together. > > Something like this: > > * Bronze & Silver can queue with and against each other > * Gold queues with and against only Golds, as this encompasses the largest bulk of the population > * Plat & Legend division queue with and against each other > > Wait times become as long as they need to be. There used to be similar separation. You had to wait 1,5 hours for queue as legend (at least it was my record) and back then population was bigger. I was ok with it, many hated it so it was changed. Don't get me wrong, i am not fan of silver vs plat matches but no matter how you change matchmaking it will never be ideal because of the simple reason: pvp population is really small. Reality is, this will get worse. Surely, Xpac will add some life into pvp but the game is old, they are not going to invest a lot of resources into pvp. I wouldn't get my hopes up. Those who still play are just funeral guests.
  21. I wouldn't say favorite but i do grab necro when i don't play my thief for dps and for pvp. Why? Because for pvp it offers probably best boonstrip on top of some point control. For raid dps because rota is relative simple and gets the job done. I guess scepter/staff have been main weapons i have been using for years. Otherwise than that i play a lot of mesmer not because i like it (i actually hate it with passion, i neither enjoy the mechanics nor the idea, pink is also yikes) but because it is basically a free ticket into raids (and to WvW squads as well). You want to find groups quickly? Always get a spot in raids even if you possibly don't have enough required KPs? Get Anet favorit pve child - the mesmer!
  22. I enjoyed pvp before Anet decided to make it p2W so before pre-HoT patch and celestial meta and obviously before elites have been introduced. Back then while having some issues the combat was indeed balanced around risk and reward. Then everything just became spammy.

We will always some flavor of the month. > > I wouldn't force every class or even spec to be viable for every game mode and every mode within that game mode an so on.. That's just unrealistic and never going to happen. I know from personal experience that thief is at least "viable" in 2v2 and 3v3 with some builds and I think that's more than I would ask for a class. I mean like I said, I've played builds that were not even considered viable in the slightest, let alone a meta build and I 1) performed really well and 2) had a lot of fun playing it. > I've also suggested in another post that anet could categorize classes/e-specs so they can balance them accordingly and justify everything instead of "We feel like this is too stronk so Nerf-Hammer". > If they put daredevil in a Roamer-category then they have no obligations to make daredevil work for a team deathmatch kind of game mode and recent mobility nerfs would be unjustified where we as players also get some form of base to argue from too. However if they'd decide that Daredevil is supposed to be a Brawler then the mobility nerfs were appropriate and nobody could really argue against that.. Something like that.. If Anet just set specific roles a spec is meant for then everybody (community AND devs) would have a better guideline for judgement instead of just personal opinion. They don't need to be super one-dimensional and a roamer is not allowed to take part in team fights or bring anything else to the table but it allows everyone to put everything into perspective.. If a tank excels in mobility in such a way that they replace roamers then there's definitely something going on.. > > It would also open some possibilities for match making.. Instead of avoiding duplicate classes they could avoid duplicate roles or make them more unlikely or match two equally set up teams and stuff.. Like only match a team with support with another team with support, or something like that. > Completely different approach to how Anet handles sPvP at the moment (and everything else basically since you could also extend that to PvE lfgs and stuff) but I think this could change and improve a lot.. just a couple constructive thoughts instead of the usual Q_Q in the forums. I think i disagree because i have played this for too long and have seen too much from Anet. I just have no reasons to be optimistic enough for the suggestions you make.

If D/P DD is the big problem then is it the D/P part or is it the DD part? I suspect it is the E-Spec driving the problem not the weapon spec. Not that the weapon spec itself isn't a problem, but is it as much a problem on Core or DE? No, and that is because of the DD dodge being a leap. Remove the leap finisher from the dodge and you may see DD become very balanced very quickly. Not that there are other things that could be done, but I suspect that would go a long ways by itself. > > > > > > I'd say its definitely daredevil. 3 dodges a side, lets just call it 2 like everyone else. It's a 450 range escape-evade that clears movement condis, and the whole line stacks -30% incoming dmg as well as giving weakness on enemy's after a successful evade and has a 15% dmg modifier. Who else wouldn't take daredevil lol > > > > Anet wanted to sell xpacs so they made DD basically mandatory. Same goes for a lot of especs. Let's be honest, how many really run core on the character? If they nerf DD then people will play DE. If they nerfed DE there will be just no thieves. I guess most people with pve specs in greens in WvW will love it but guess what? They they start to die even more to mesmerss/rangers/wars etc. Look at pvp forums: there are multiple threads and posts complaining about revs since main beating target (thief) got for most part removed with sb nerf. > > > > As for this thread: > > if thief got away this means they are not dumb enough to stay in fight they can't win. If they were your enemy - rejoyce, you just won the fight. Once again people, care what you are asking for. If for some reason Anet would nerf thief escape capability completely they would have to compensate it and result would be some really disgusting type of shiro rev. Good thieves will still murder your average WvW player and you still won't get your bags. > > > > Isn't it enough for you that every thief player get instantly kicked from squads and flamed on top of it for simply existing? By own teammates? Or like yesterday, i just wanted to do some dailies, enemy comes in group and trash talks me because i had to run away since i just can't fight them all at once, especially with constant reveals from the keep. I am biased but i will still defend the point that thief is not the issue here. WvW community should seriously look in mirror - maybe they would finally see what toxic mass they have become. > > If thief runs and resets, you didnt win any fight. > Also, two wrongs (thieves being absurdly mobile and them not being welcome in squads) dont make a right. Um, yes you did. In meanwhile you can cap something and you get your Cds back. Also, run away and reset is basically all they have for survival. They can't just pop something like IL and facetank damage. So what makes it right? Remove thieves from the game? Guess what. Even if they did, the next class will be on the line. I mean i could just sit here and ask Anet to remove.. guards for example because they annoying me a lot. Here. WvW/PvP community in nutshell.
