  1. I type when i am capturing point and there is nobody around. I type when i am respawning (although, rather rarely due to nature of the class) or i am in the game where is nothing to do (500-17 says hello). Usually something along the lines: ranger inc home, ignore warrior, stillness in 30, "lol matchmaking". Sometimes it works and ppl get their kittens together. Never understood trashtalking though. Oh and in rare occasions i just troll enemy team while camping stealth near their point - whatever keeps them from attacking my team. It actually works o.o You can keep 3 ppl on point without even fighting them like this (at least in lower ratings). Thief has best taunts in game xD
  2. So you want to delete roamers, especially thieves? You forgot portal btw :P Why not just remove capture points all together, delete all classes but 1, which would be mix of warrior and guard and just have death match. Yeah, that sounds entertaining. Not.
  3. Eh, i just hope there is not yet another nerf to thief, especially core :|

The game wouldn't feel the same as it was before. Otherwise as far as i recall, there have been posts asking for the same thing, especially when HOT-madness hit live servers but alas....

More like the part where you can drop everything on point and go somewhere else yet still contribute to the team fight, a lot. I like how people here think that massive AoE spam on point is somehow the same as squishy thief smashing his single target dagger attack, **in melee range**.

They panic instead of calming themselves down and observing whether the attacks occur under certain conditions, in certain patterns or have various static vectors such as Sunqua's final boss. Generally speaking, rather than talking or discussing amongst themselves they tend to assume that the encounter is "broken," "too difficult" or "badly scaled." Whether it's 23/24/25 or 48/49/50 in T1/T2 these Fractals are meant to be benchmarks, litmus tests, for whether you're ready for more challenging fractals. It's okay not to be ready. > > When Fractal Instabilities start coming into play it really does help to have a better understanding of how to take advantage of swapping your traits. Whether your group needs a little more healing, a little more condition cleanse, crowd control (CC) or stability. Lots of players these days take to blaming a lack of dedicated support classes. It's more difficult for them to accept that they have the tools to solve their own problems and look towards dedicated support classes to be their problem-solving panacea. The problem is, when they rely on a dedicated support class like Healbrand or Alacragade, they don't learn how to contribute towards a group-wide solution. > > "The Lost Knowledge" of Fractals is understanding how to acquire more sustain or support-utility independent of support builds at a minimal damage loss. The thing is, you shouldn't really consider DPS the be-all/end-all paradigm for Fractal progression. What are your problems? What are your solutions? Where are they? How do you work together to make best use of your individual build, class and "identity" to eliminate specific problems? Dedicated Supports are a relatively new part of GW2. > > The game functioned without dedicated supports from 2012 to October 2015 w/ Heart of Thorns. It's all about intelligently using your traits and utility skills to provide momentary support; anticipating and preparing for problems ahead of time. The problem isn't Fractals are "too hard," - it's that players don't know their classes. When I was leveling my Engineer on my alt account and did Mai Trin in a T2 group I was cleansing conditions like a madman with Healing Turret & Elixir Gun (Super Elixir, Blast Finishers & Fumingator). It's not that you "can't do X, Y or Z" it's that you're unwilling to look more deeply into your repertoire of class traits and utilities. Yeah i miss pre-HoT runs. Fractals actually were fun imo, you could run builds based on encounter and not what snowcrows posted on golem benchmark and every sheep demands from you.

Last time i checked armor does reduce incoming damage. Bruiser probably because guards generally have more access to damage mitigation (e.g. heals/blocks) than thieves which rely more on active defense (dodges/stealth). I think guards (DH as well) were designed more of a point holder/denier and not as roamer like thief/mesmers. The rune indeed kind of ruins the initial design. Whether it is healthy or not is personal opinion.

If you are having problems in PVP or WVW with thief, mesmer would be much worse for you. Meanwhile against all odds I see many mesmers "replace" thieves nowdays in PVP. This is because of forum posts like this. People actually believed that thief is garbage and stopped playing it. Hell it is even more fun, more mesmers I see as a thief, better for me, it is free real estate. You don't need to compare thief to chrono or a guardian anyway. Especially in PVE. Ofc boon thief is even stronger than those. It is like mirage: works on 4 bosses but it is brokenly overpowered. Same with dps thief just look at this: https://snowcrows.com/benchmarks/ Power DD, which is a lil weaker than deadeye does around 36k on golem on single target but stronger at cleaving when you need that. And ofc very good CC. So you already got 7 raid bosses where thief is not just very good, but META, in other places yes it is kinda mediocre if you compare to guardians or mesmers, but in any means not bad. I often end up top DPS on power daredevil (deadeye is just too hard to play, it has same issue as condi weaver), so I am pretty sure it is not a class problem if you fail to fill in raid groups, because me and many other thief players do it with great success. Stop whining, and rock it. Good luck wiht playing thief. Stay positive and don't be like others. Every subforum in professions whine about their classes, it is lame. > You do realize we are not talking about specs here but about whole class. Chrono is just a spec which however gives mesmer pretty much a must-have spot in raids. Nothing stops me from switching from chrono to mirage for certain fights (which i do btw). As far as what people believe or not and what they read on forums: newsflash, only really small part of population ever goes on forums and reads them. I would bet that as far as pve goes snowcrows and metabattle (yeah, i know, lol) are more visited than this forums. And what are those sites telling people? Your group is better off with anything but a thief. I do not think that mesmer is in that bad place in pvp but it is my personal opinion. I do also however not think that thief is in that great position in pvp atm. Sure, you can make thief work, if you are good. Meanwhile you need 2 brain cells to play certain classes/specs for same reward. Given all the nerfs Anet threw at thief all this years and their refusal to give thief any kind of meaningful support capability (they actually nerfed those we had) i really would have expected that at least as far as dps in end game group content thief would have highest dps - they don't. By far. You can argue with it all you want but numbers show that in most cases you ARE better off with other classes. So what validates then Anet's logic for not giving thief anything, really anything as far as group play goes? And for your information - yes, i can find groups as thief because i have enough LIs and KPs and multiple specs . Fact is, i need really long time to find a spot for all wings (especially those requiring condi damage) on a thief but once i got me mes/guard/rev i can almost instantly get into ANY group. I don't even want to start on fractals - nobody cares whether i can play my thief good, have good gear, know mechanics and all, played basically since launch. They just don't want one. I actually had to reroll to guard to get daily t4s done. This was my "stay positive". Once you start to play other classes you really start to realize how much more greener the grass is on the other side and that whoever designs classes and balanced spells actually does not like thief class at all. Did you know btw that some NPCs in raids don't even grant anything on steal - yeah they pay this much attention to the class. I don't even want to start on quality of the stolen spells (although they did improve them.... after **years** of raiding lol). Whining on forums? What do you think forums are for? If players are happy they don't post here - they play the game. Where should one voice their concerns? You may disagree with me or OP which is fine but you can't tell other people what to do.

PvE end game is ruled by efficiency, fortunately there is more than raid/strike in the game. Personally I enjoy playing thief in open world PvE (it's a perfect profession for moving unhindered through maps and puzzles) and it's tools still allow you to steamroll over quite a few dungeons paths (Thief is ideal to cheese caudecus manor paths for example). > > > > > WvW: you get insta kicked from squads and flamed if you join one. However, the thief's image (due to thief's players favored gameplay) also add to the fact that they are not welcome in zerg. It's scary but most player (thief players included) think that the thief can only play in a cheesy burst playstyle while in fact the thief have a lot of option to support it's team and take a beating. > > > > > PvP: yeah, thief is so OP... oh, excuse me, "FINE" atm that i have been the ONLY thief in the 99% of the matches i have done this season. Sure, It's what have defined him in sPvP for most of the game live but it's not all he can do. Over the years thief is the profession that changed it's gameplay the least in this gamemode, both because it's perceived as needed for his role and because thiefs players are drawn toward such gameplay. Thought, nothing really prevent players to try to get creative with what the thief can do. > > The issue is not whether thief is fine or not. The issue is thiefs are less effective at what they used to be the most effective, leading to an identity crisis. PvE: so you agree that thief is not efficient in end game group content (basically a reason to play this game once you reached max level). That is also the point of OP. If thief is not allowed to do anything at least it should provide best damage in pve, by far and not in some unrealistic golem environment. WvW: no, anything thief does as "support" can be done by other classes and much better. Simple as it is. Thief is waste of spot in zergs. As you say, thief is not efficient. That is actually an additional problem if you consider their "viability" in pve. PvP: i guess we agree on pvp point. Thief is just not great at what they are supposed to do in this game and they can't just go and take other role (and even if they did it got nerfed pretty quickly).
  13. Well, sure, you can change stealth mechanics or stealth granting skills, you do realize however that they would need to rebalance a lot of stealth related spells and traits for that and also consider opportunity costs. Once again, last time someone complained about perma stealth thieves, Anet made evade/dodge builds more "profitable" which lead to community complain all day that they can't hit thief because they "perma dodge". Let's be honest, all you guys want is an immobile dummy that gives bags upon hitting them. You can't expect every class to play like a warrior - the game would be just boring and you yourself would quit it eventually. OP, please tell me where stacking stealth is really that problematic and game breaking that it would require such huge changes to multiple classes. P.S. i do not play perma stealth builds i just know how Anet makes their "major" changes and how things get worse, at the end of everyone.
  14. Arrowcart -> many many bags. Also, no valid path, no valid path, no valid path..... if i recall correctly i had garments from twilight arbor, condi stats, midnight ice dye (which cost small fortune back then) and was very proud of it.

The point is guards are easier to play and give a lot of wins with little effort. Mesmers are much more difficult to play and can only win if its in the hands of someone who's played it for a long time. > > > > This isn't just the case for guards and mesmers, its true when you compare other classes too. > > Core-Ele is much more difficult to play than mesmer and has much lower win-rate. Therefore mesmer needs to be nerfed. > > See how that sounds stupid? See how you can't just compare 2 things in a vacuum? Core thief is basically non-existent in pvp yet they still heavily nerfed it last patch (and patches before) so yeah i see no point in your argument (at least by Anet's logic).

For comparison, guildwars2.com is hosted on both NA and EU, and these forums are through a 3rd party on completely different servers. Ok, i guess that would explain the issue. Thank you for info. You said, region can't be changed. Is it final? Or can support change it? Do you know anything about it?

This region is unrelated to the server you've chosen to play on, can't be changed and determines which region you login through. You can check your account's region under account.arena.net on the overview under personal information. > > If you're EU and the account having problems is NA while the other is EU, your problem is simply that you have an unstable connection to NA. 22. Or you could play a thief... and realize that you can't do anything to anyone with more than 2 brain cells.
  23. Also, on my alt account that has no xpac i don't get 42:0:9001:4457:101 error messages. On this account that has both xpac i literary can't play the first few minutes because i get spammed by the error message. I tried VPN, it didn't help. My assumption at this point is that login servers are located on some AWS machine and it is just overloaded so much that some of us just can't play anymore. It is especially noticeable in the evening. After 8 pm i can basically only kill monsters in open world and that is. There are better games for such kind of activity :/
  24. > @"Avatar.3568" said: > You can't win against a team with a Thief when you don't have one Yes, you can. I just lost match as thief while enemy had none. Simply because my team kept wiping 4v3 on the way to mid. I can't really decap anything when their enemy afks at our home and far.
  25. The issue is still there. Game is unplayable :| This is definitely not game issue either. It takes really long time to load gw2 wiki. The console shows ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR 200. Also, error i get when trying to load AH: ![](https://i.imgur.com/0ViAaoZ.png "")
