Visions of the Past resurrecting the S1 missions showed me that the content is objectively awful and should have zero resources devoted to making it playable again. When I think about all the hits and misses for IBS, no misstep stands out to me more than the rehashed season 1 material. Spending the time and money to get this content live again would be a pretty clear signal from Arenanet that it was time for me to take my time and money elsewhere.

Taimi wasn't seen at all from the end of S4 until last ep of Icebrood. Caithe wasn't seen at all from the end of S4 until last ep of Icebrood. Kasmeer has had maybe 5 lines in Icebrood? Weren't she and Jory in some undisclosed location during the bulk of s4? Have we even seen Rox since Dragonfall? Marjory had maybe 3 lines in Icebrood Ep 1, freaked out and didnt return until the DRMs? I dunno man.... your post seems kinda weird. > Do you want to know what I don't like? I don't like NPCs who behave like teenagers, I am tired of listening to the annoying voice of *Taimi and the Kasmeer+Marjory sisteromance. Enough boys, Anet, give this game proper manly NPCs. oh.... one of "those".

However assisted cheesing of the content has been around since portals and has just gotten more prevalent with all the other mechanics added on top over time. I think at this point it is more or less an accepted and almost expected part of the GW2 community and taking it away would make many people quite angry. I am not suggesting anything that makes it more cheeseable than it already is, aside from maybe making it easier to practice. To actually get the achievements or rewards the JPs still need to be done at least in the way they currently exist. Then on top of that, I'm proposing modes that return some integrity to the JP achievements which require them to be done solo, without cheese and as they were originally intended to be done. However I strongly suggest the rewards for this remain JP related, and mastery points or the legendary collections are not shifted from the unrestricted mode to the restricted or time trial modes. The Community getting upset about not being able to trivialize content is not a reason to stop them from trivializing it. Imagine if the developers has said "oh well we cannot possibly stop AB Multiloot now, people would get upset" (and many people did). This is. after all, a method of people getting rewards (JP chests, daily completion, achievements) that they are not earning. Your proposed changes would be a perfect place to close this issue out, however you stop short either because you think (rightfully) that it would make your suggestions unpopular or it would put your tip money from being a "a daily JP porter" at risk. The absolute first thing Anet would need to do to make this content legitimate and devote more resources to things like increased rewards, challenge modes, time trials, is close down the way players are exploiting mesmer portals to cheese each other through the content. Then they would need to put an end to the mount skips that exist for just about every JP. The fact that you have suggested a system that would address these issues but have chosen to muddy the waters with some sort of facility to keep skipping players to rewards and achievements they have not earned removes pretty much all value from your suggestion to me. Seems just like another self-interested suggestion in a forum filled with them.

  9. > @"Khisanth.2948" said: > Except for high level fractals all the experimenting can be done with exotics and the only reason high level fractals can't be done is because of AR. Making AR an account bound thing would solve that problem as well. If this is for fractals you don't really need to craft that much anyway. Or we can just accept that the hardest 5 man content in the game is not an appropriate place for testing. We can leverage existing easier content that doesnt require max AR to test in exotic gear (t1-2 fractals, explorable dungeons, full CM DRMs) and get a proper idea. Making AR account bound brings with it some issues that would likely cause some real pain to those players regularly playing t4's.
  10. Consider putting up a video or a few screenshots with Arc on. These screenshots don't show much unfortunately

I can't believe i didn't think of that LOL i just used the Winterberry ring or another one for my stat change... WIll get another bloodstone one and attune it then! Way easier to change the stats too then, 100 unbound magic makes those ascended ones basically legendary, especially if you're not having infusions in them. Here's another fun fact. Attuning a S3 or S4 currency ring will also reset it's stats.

  13. > @"namelesswc.9217" said: > **Tldr: The point I wanted to make with this post is that being able to experiment with different builds should be a basic feature of a MMO. Because builds are useless with wrong stats, people can't experiment properly. Instead you have to follow meta builds to not waste money on equipment which is not ideal.** And yet most MMOs other than this one gate traits/build changes behind costly respec systems that require time or currency sinks and often both. Most other MMOs additonally require **months of grind** to get anything close to BiS gear and rather that giving you the opportunity to change stats (as this one does) require to you regrind your gear should you be looking for something different. > Once stats, runes and sigils are applied to equipment it is very hard / expensive to change without having legendary equipment. This leads to almost everybody playing the exact meta build in raids or fractals because the have been proven to work and discourage players to try out new things because it's so expensive. What is the worst case for a sigil swap? Ten gold each? Can't I make ten gold in an hour of mining rocks and trees in Mount Maelstrom/Sparkfly Fen? > Also every raider or fractal player is running around in openworld with their full berserker raid / fractal gear and getting 1 shotted all the time because it's to much of an effort to get a completely new set of gear for open world gameplay. Love to see your source for this "fact". Most high end fractal or raid players I know find Open World pretty easy. > Now if you want try something off meta for raids/endgame fractals or a different build for open world you have get new gear, which requires time and money and depending on the stat of the gear (viper, minstrel, diviner, harrier) a lot of time. And after you get it, it could turn out it's totally kitten. What if trailblazer stats doesn't turn out as good in openworld as you have expected and you want to try out celestial? Well have fun grinding a new set of equipment. And the trailblazer's is new blocking space inside your inventory for years because you don't want to delete it. Isn't the solution for this already in game? Isn't second best in slot armor available at very minimal cost? When I look at the current availability of stat selectable exotic armor to play with buildcraft I'm actually pretty happy. I get a piece every week just for a couple hours in WvW, I have the bladed sets in Verdant Brink, I have those Ice Golem hats on the TP for less than 1g each. The requiem sets, the runic shaman sets... the list really does go on. It's never been easier to kit out a test build even in something like Trailblazers or Minstrels. We have a ton of stat selectable second best in slot alternatives. We also have gear loadout slots (equipment templates). This makes it perfectly viable to set up a second set of test gear for less than ten gold.... in any stat set we want. If you are looking to "try out" another stat set, exotic armor is all you need. Ascended trinkets are ridiculously easy to come by. Investing some time in Bloodstone fen can give you 4 of your 6 trinkets (Two rings, one backpack, one amulet) a stat reset option for the ridiculously low price of 100 unbound magic for all 4. Amulets and Accessories can be had for karma and 30 minutes of opening chests in Bjora **every day** making them largely disposable. A caladbolg gives most builds the option of a stat selctable ascended weapon with a reset option for 1000 unbound magic. Isn't the cost of stat-selectable Ascended Armor at an all-time low thanks to Senior Crystallographer Smoxxi anyways? Don't most players who do frequent t4 fractals also have a bank tab filled with Ascended Armor boxes? > Opt 1: Easiest but maybe not best - Make all ascended equipment always stat selectable just like legendaries. This considerably devalues Legendary equipment by removing it's value beyond the skin > Opt 2: Make ascended stat selectable but one have to unlock the stats. E.g. doing some achievements to onlock viper stats? This considerably devalues Legendary equipment by removing it's value beyond the skin > Opt 3: Same as Opt 2 but add Gem Store item to unlock all Stats? This considerably devalues Legendary equipment by removing it's value beyond the skin > Opt 4: End of Dragon buyers get stat selection? This considerably devalues Legendary equipment by removing it's value beyond the skin .... and like it or not, the "Legendary Grind" is the main current driving force of the economy. How about : Opt 1: You leverage current sources of second-BiS gear for testing out your builds with cheap exotic stat selectable armor boxes and easily acquired ascended trinkets. Opt 2: You make legendary gear.

Condi tempest is absolutely viable in raids where bosses are better suited for condi and uses warhorn. Tempest is absolutely top tier support but is viable DPS both condi and power/fresh air. Open world tempest is much more effective both condi and power using warhorn than offhand dagger. The offhand dagger can't offer the damage that WH does.
  15. > @"Firebeard.1746" said: > I'm kinda miffed I can't use GS effectively in raids/strikes/fractals as mirage, I like the ambush skill for GS, but the throughput is just ineffective. Almost all of the extra damage from the spec come from imaginary axes and the trait that gives additional ones on axe skill use. (To be fair, its autoattack also has ridiculously heavy condi damage as well, far and above anything the other mirage weapons could generate, either on plain auto attacks OR ambushes. ) > > I prefer choice, and I feel like making the elite weapon *THE* choice kills the spec sometimes and makes the elite specs feel more like pigeonholing than an actual extension of your class. I'd say good traits are ones like Chronophantasma that work well with *ALL* weapons and not just one. > > I'm not saying make the elite weapons bad, I'm just saying it feels bad when there's only 1 weapon choice for an elite. Condi Soulbeast is still going to be more powerful with a shortbow in pve. Power DPS Chronomancer will not use a shield. Wasn't the meta for Condi Berserker actually the longbow and not the offhand torch? Doesn't Spellbreaker do much higher damage with a greatsword instead of dagger/dagger? Isn't staff Weaver still a thing? Isn't the Scrapper meta for WvW pistol/shield? Is there a decent Dragonhunter out there who still uses the Longbow other than a few niche sPvP builds? The main reason GS isn't as effective as axe on Mirage is because it's a power weapon and Mirage is a condi spec. Axe was designed as a condi weapon. It may not suit your personal class fantasy but it's got little to do with axe being overpowered compared to the alternatives. It's the fact that its a proper condi weapon on a class without many alternatives when using a condi spec.

  18. Diverting developer resources into a project like this would be the best thing for Anet to do if they wanted to to drive me and the money I spend on this game to a different franchise.
  19. > @"Kirin.7306" said: > Anet was it worth it money vs reputation wise to go back on your old philosophy of no grind to add Ascended/Legendary gear to GW2? You don't understand what "no grind philosophy" means.

Oh you've taken 6 months to almost craft your legendary but now when you have to spend like... *6 hours* in WvW then the game is suddenly **ruined**. Never mind the fact that these same players will spend 12 solid hours farming elder wood.
  21. > @"Irensaga.6935" said: > Step 3: Finish the personal story. You may need help to down Mordremoth. I sure did on my Elementalist main. Being part of a guild who will come to your rescue when asked is helpful here. While I agree with pretty much everything you said and find this an excellent post I do need to take issue with the above quote. Hearts and Minds is a soloable encounter on any class as long as you don't choose the challenge mote. I'm not going to sit here and tell anyone it's an easy encounter. It's not. However finishing this encounter by improving your play, making any needed changes to gearing or adapting your build can be a very important step to a player's progression in this game. Calling in people to rescue you and provide a carry reinforces a bubble that many players of this game never break out of. If you can finish Hearts and Minds, then other missions that a number of players struggle with such as Night of Fires, Confessor's End, the climax of PoF or Scruffy 2,0 become markedly easier. Yes finish the story. But if you've gotten this far on your own, understand that the final mission is every bit as soloable as everything before it. if you're going to call in guildies to help, play the migraine mode, don't just call in a few people to kill the boss for you. Doing so robs yourself of one of the few good teaching moments this game offers.
