Mirage may have a high skill ceiling but any one can pick it up and within a hr do far better in duels and 1vx than they’d normally be doing on their mains most times lmao we’ve all done it,it’s no secret. I powerboosted a mesmer and made both power and Condi Mirage and went into wvw and was amazed at how faceroll it was,power was bit harder but both were way easier to be successful with than thief,guard etc and not just a little easier a huge margin lol I lost a few fights but man roaming and picking people off was child’s play,the class is bloated and deserved its nerfs for sure,though arenet shoulda listen to mirage players more regarding the nerfs cuz seems still over performing

    I can answer u as a ex thief player of 3 yrs :) when I rerolled to guard and Engie I was ecstatic at the fact I could do actual damage and fight someone without stealth backstabbing to make any dents in the opponents hp :) doing the same one skill over and over to do any damage was boring, as even popping Assassin signet in maurader gear on a s/d build was garbage. Jump in evade some attacks,stun opponent and do auto’s while watching their hp barely move and than use unblockable 3 to than see sweet still barely any hp movement get hit by one attack and almost be downed so gotta disengage than try stealthing for a backstab same ol crap,goes for all thief weapons.only thing that may help u mid fight I a decent steal but usually garbage too,powercreep and nerfs has made everything but permastealth backstabbed garbage so yeah it’s glorious for a thief when he re rolls cuz he can actually kill stuff without having to disengage or back stab spam :) and anoth plus is mobility has been handed out like candy to most classes so the mobility is barely missed :)

  3. Lol not in my server,zergers that have died are constantly ganking players during their return trip to the zergs and or roaming on them. Atleast before those niche builds/classes had weaknesses along side what made them good roamers,never mind thief did but gues if I’m honest soulbeast,mirage and holo didn’t lol nevertheless I feel like the risk of travel and engagements at any time are a very important dynamic to any open map pvp mode and mounts equate to to much safety while traveling

I haven’t got the mount yet due to my server not wanting to take the keep often,so it seems anyway lol but honestly if it wernt for sneak gyro I’d be literally ganked every few mins by groups of mounted players and that’s from an ex thief player lol it’s funny to see the mount defenders using ganking as a defence lol

  5. Decrease dps on skills like backstab especially malicious backstabs

    Increase damage of all skills 10% some maybe 15% except for vault as it does enough

    Make preparedness baseline and if traited 18 initiative

    Revert lead attacks and blinding powder skills

    Change improvisation so elites arnt part of rng,only utility skills are

    Shave a second of evade time off daggerstorm

    Thief would atleast be a threat in a 1v1 without having to stealth backstab

It’s gotten to the point that even tho thief’s flavour is the most appealing to me the class as a whole is garbage these days in comparison to other classes so I end up playing other classes while the class I’ve done the most content in the past with just sits there. It’s pretty bad that I mostly have been roaming for 2 months on Engie and scrapper and at first was surprised at the skill variety and most importantly my damage to sustain was great ,even better since patch and we all kno scrappers dps isn’t its strong suit lmao but compared to thief(if ur not backstabbing from stealth) it’s great :)

    It’s been continually nerfed since 2015,de brought more nerfs to core as well all patches before most recent.u been playing long?thief is far from its initial iteration all while other classes save fore Eli we’re powercrept

  8. All this nonsense about thief needing to be weak due to stealth is nonsense. Is ranger,mirage and holo weak? All can stealth,scrapper too. The meta build for thief is s/d no stealth unless utility slots taken and that’s great for avoiding or disengagement woohoo. If swords,daggers and pistol actually did reasonable damage than the stealth backstab spam wouldn’t exist and thief wouldn’t be a bore after half hr. I hate stealth reliance so if I play thief I have to play perfect and avoid almost all hits and hit my opponent 4 times the amount he hits me and if I get hit twice I’m forced to dissengage,that’s fun.no class should be ballanced around a one trick pony mechanic. Arenanet need to wake up and buff sword,dagger and pistol damage across all skills and reduce damage from mechanics like malicious backstab etc and maybe at a condition or soft cc to them so thier worth doing but not high burst high dps promoting actual skilled fighting and not mechanics like backstab spam.

    A thief should be fast,fragile and HIT hard(how games normally do it) and not only hit hard in one type of attach per weapon,doesn’t even have that lol

    See comments like this are unfortunate. “Go play pvp conquest” why should they?because on type of playstyle fits u and some other and everyone should conform to ur ridiculous notion that in a open world pvp mode players should play by some made up rules of conduct that a group that of pve minded people set. It’s pretty simple and not hard to understand open world pvp means PLAYERS FIGHT EACH OTHER in an OPEN WORLD with NO SET OF GUIDELINES FOR WHEN PLAYERS ARE TO ENGAGE lol this has gotta be the only pvp mode in existence that players expect to not be engaged entities to an objective or engaged anywhere outside of doing objectives and if they do their cheesey ganker lmao I was solo and got rolled by a basically a whole Zerg of 30 that literally chased little ol me down to roll over me,am I annoyed?no.also mounted groups gank even easier now but it’s ok cuz u can get to ur zero safer haha. This whole roaming-ganker-havoc being hated on needs to stop. It’s literal bad players that like to sit in a huge blob and spam buttons and just playing stay outa the circles,no wonder they hate focused fights lol

    All playstyles are acceptable and allowed as their are no rules,so quit telling anyone that doesn’t feel like just zerging to leave wvw and go to conquest,u leave and go to pve so the players that want to have diversified engagements outside of a blobbed mess can play how the want as they usually care little about telling others how to play :)

Lmao forums never cease to be entertaining,yes remove steal teleport,nerf thief more as their wet noodle damage/garbage sustain is too much for thos guy :) take away infiltrators arrow too cuz the short bow does far too much dps as well,not to mention the crazy sword damage and let’s not mention pistols dps deleting people left and right. Cant arena net tell how op pistols are with all the thief pistol builds around? Seriously lol

I can understand how if zerging is all ur interested in getting engaged on the way to ur Zerg can be frustrating and annoying for sure but I think what the complaints are focused around is a open map pvp mode with multiple playstyles(reason why wvw play the mode) gets streamlined to almost the point where it’s just a Zerg mode which is definitely detrimental to wvw. Just as I can be annoying to u to be engaged it’s anoying for them to have their ability to engage almost fully removed. Also stopping zergers from reaching their fight can be helpful to their server as well. This is why I think warclaw shoulda been a mobility tool only and if in certain radius to enemy dismount should occur or atleast some reliable quick way to dismount a player if in radius of them,this would alleviate the long travels but not ALMOST delete certain playstyles.

  12. Think about wvw as a whole though is being forced to fight a enemie that u happen open that’s running a build more attuned to roaming than ur Zerg build not fair or a waste of ur time? It’s a open map pvp style mode. If u were playing a fps with objectives would u think it’s a waste of ur time or an enemies to engage u in a gun fight on the way to the objective? No lol no one does that,they see u and shoot lol. U just happen to be running a build better for zergs and them roaming,just like if I’m roaming and join a Zerg and get destroyed in seconds from scourge bombs I eat it and knowing that’s how she goes lol I will say permastealth one shot backstab should have never existed

  13. Funny thing is all these pro mount players constantly complains about roamers while describing ganking than in game are guilty of ganking on their mount which is far easier now. Sure few builds/classes were used more commonly for bursts on u suspecting players or to 3v1 but it is definitely easier now with mounts just that they don’t view it as ganking cuz

     

    Their doing the ganking

    They can now better avoid being ganked

    All classes now can effectively do it

     

    Only thing warclaw did is take away the one small niche certain classes were more effective at than others and are now not really worth using lol

    Thats awsome and it’s awsome u enjoy Zerg gameplay and no one can fault u at all,just Zerging is no more relevant than roaming or havoc, their all legitimate preferred playstyles. Different strokes for different folks. Without zergs wvw would be that much more boring just as it will be without a decent roaming and havoc scene, they all add different needed flavours so different minded people can all enjoy it :) although I enjoy roaming far more than zerging I would never want zerging or its playstyle negatively impacted as that would ruin a lot of my fellow players preferred way to play and would negatively impact the game were all playing. Before I get why don’t u conquest I don’t because I enjoy the open map pvp style that wvw provides.

  15. Saw a post that conquest needs mounts now lol hope it was a troll post. Imagine though if it was unlocked in conquest and available in pve. All the pve players would be posting it’s a great addition to conquest because it elevates being engaged on way to the node by cheesey gankers,cuz aperantly all 1v1 initiators are gankers lol

I can’t count how many times in last few nights that one or a small group of mounted players have pounced on me when solo and destroyed me,I don’t use the mount and I’m ok with getting rolled as the risk is something I don’t want to lose in wvw.whether these were players that did that sort of thing before mounts I’m not sure but I’m almost certain a lot of them are the soposed roaming/gankers haters and are enjoying the fact that now they can use whatever class/build they want and can pick and chose who and when to gank all while avoiding being ganked lol used to be roaming and ganking (two different things) used to require specific class/specs with specific builds and map/environment awareness to be most effective at it now it’s dumbed down following the direction of the rest of the game. Point is knowing people most of these professed gank haters are now doing the very same thing but think it’s ok cuz their mounted and not stealthed lol than come to post how gankers are cheesey.

Arenets over last few years have pretty much promoted the few one trick pony mechanics that thief has while continuing to nerf its actual fighting capabilities resulting in most thieves relying one those few mechanics as a way to actually be effective.problem is made worse due to those one trick pony mechanics being annoying to fight against leading to salt and op claims. Doubt it’s ever going to change as it seems arenanet doesn’t know what to do with thief and non thief players(the majority of the community) will alway cry op etc due to the thieves design and the playstyle arenet promotes within the class. There’s even posters saying it’s one of the best 1v1 classes lmao
