I may have misunderstood. Do you remember a link to that statement? I'll read it again and see where I went wrong.

    Thanks!

According to their statement (in the patch notes when they made the change), blue unids should always produce blue gear. (Same for green and yellow.)

No, sorry, I just misread your post.

  4. Illconceived:

    Thanks for your comments.

The tomes and writs come from the daily rewards.

Of the Pact map items I only have eight. They'll be gone inside a week.

The treasure finding kits are going into the bank. Or, rather, onto a designated Highlands farmer. Thanks for the reminder!

Re: the home stone and ML passkey, I use them differently. The home stone is because I don't have a designated home instance farmer. (I may change that, since I have 27 level 80s now.) The ML passkey gets used several times a day, but by different characters.

I actually have a route for each homestead. It's pretty efficient; I only have to change the implements 8-10 times (depending on which home). I use the time running between nodes to make the switches (except in the Sylvari home, which has ... issues. I try not to farm there much.)

Oh, every character has his own crude salvage kit. Only only have to swap them when one of them runs out. Same applies to the implements.

Going to the ML Sanctuary takes time to get to. I only go there or the guild hall when I have more than one swap to make.

Your comments hinting at penny-wise, pound-foolish are valid, though. It truly is a time vs. money questions, but my personality won't let me waste money. I know in my mind that it would be better to use the extra time for farming zones, missions, or events, but ... I just can't do it. I would use the excuse that I was brought up in the Depression, but even I'm not that old. :)

This is incorrect. While they said they fixed it so that magic find isn't applied twice, they're wrong. I've seen dozens, maybe even hundreds of blue unids turn into green gear (and even a yellow or two).

Until they fix the processes completely, it still pays to open them and then salvage.

    >

    > For example, I invested in the Permanent Bank Access contract. At today's prices, that's about 3500 gold, enough to buy 12000 gems (aka the cost of 25 shared inventory slots). Because, in effect, it turns a single shared slot into however many bank slots you have: 30, 60, 420, etc

    > So things that I use constantly get a shared slot, while things that only get occasional use do not. It's amazingly useful.

    >

    > There are cheaper ways to conserve shared inventory, depending on what you're currently using them for.

I play 27 regularly (at least every other week, and 20+ weekly).

    Home portal stone

    Mistlock Sanctuary passkey

    Seasons three and four tomes

    mystic forge

    copper and silver salvage kit

    treasure hunting kits

Pact Scout's mapping materials. (This will disappear when I've used them all).

Seven for implements. (I don't have any infinite gathering tools, and I'm a cheapskate who uses the implement of the right tier to gather.).

crude salvage kit (for basic gear and salvage items)

black lion salvage kit (for exotic gear)

Tomes of knowledge, silky sand, and writs of experience (because we get them every day)

    bank express

    merchant express

One kept empty for transfers (I wish you could mail to yourself)

    > > That's plausible. But, it can't explain the number I see. Such a situation can only happen once per set of sales. The one guy sold 40 stacks. If he had been receiving that warning, he would have only sold one pile at that price. I've done that myself. Kick myself for it, but then move on ... with the right price.

    >

    > I wouldn't be surprised if some of these people used macros/tools to help them handle multiple stack trades on the market. So a mistake for one stack becomes a mistake for all listed stacks. <_<

Now THAT makes a lot of sense.

Of course, since that would be a violation of the terms of service, I am rapidly losing my empathy for these. :)

  8. Crazy.

I hope the guy reads this. Because he finally stopped posting sales at 10,750, all around 15c less than he was really trying to shoot for.

I can understand selling for the instant price. If you're impatient, or if you need money immediately, etc. I never do it.

But, to gamble for a single penny: the guy has already lost money, because the actual price dropped by 3c while he was posting his sales. People have posted below his price and sold, all while he was still clicking sell.

  9. Someone is at it again. Mithril ingots. 264 available for ... drum roll please ... 1.07, when they could have sold them at 1.06 instantly.

Worse: someone ELSE did the same thing at 1.09, and they're selling 2500 of them.

It's changing AS I TYPE: the guy selling at 1.09 now has 7000 of them for sale. It's been going up in increments of 250, so this is probably all one person ... losing their shorts. Now 9000. Incredible!

  10. I see this every day, and I simply don't understand how it can happen. Someone will undercut the current price by a copper. That's just fine. But, they don't actually undercut the price. They set a sell price one copper higher than the current "buy instantly" price.

The worst part is I see hundreds of items for sale, all at one copper more than what they could have sold them for immediately.

It seems people are trying to be clever, but showing incredible sloppiness. Tonight I was selling 40 intricate totems. I saw prices of 2.48, 2.49, and 2.51c. But, the current buyer price was 2.47c. The real price should have been 3.24c, if they wanted to undercut the price by a copper. I bought almost 300 totems and immediately turned them around for the right price, netting nearly a gold. The worst part was that the other guy kept doing it. It was only 40-something for sale initially, but every time I bought a load, more would appear.

Now, I understand that the columns are mislabeled. But, you don't consult the column when you're selling (or buying). You should look at the prices. I'll never understand.

    >

    >

"Looking for group". Hit the Y key in-game.

And both metas and events (and anything else) are available via LFG. But, metas frequently have taxis to zones where there is a group doing the meta.

  12. According to gw2spidy.com, the price has gradually but steadily risen since 2016. It's gone from nearly nothing to the current price moderately smoothly, indicating that the reason is because people need them for longer-term content (like, getting legendaries).

It's not a problem. And, it certainly isn't out of control.

  13. I'm a hoarder, too. And, it pays at times. I had 40,000 dragonite ore when princess came out.

But, I think there's also a point to limiting things. For example, when PoF or LWS4 came out (I can't remember which), they specifically made things NOT be bankable, even though they were planning to make them go to mat storage later. The reason was to establish a price that matches value. If they went into mat storage, then no market would exist until everybody reached their caps.

But, I've openly said that if they add more shared slots, I'll buy them immediately, and using real money to get the gems. Still, the above applies .. sort of ... to shared slots, too.

So, yeah I support raising the limits, but in limited quantities over time.

  14. I got the email from the Guild Wars 2 team about the meta-event bonuses. It says to "see Bonus Events in the Achievements tab of the Hero panel" for info. But, I don't see anything labeled bonus events. Can someone please point me to wherever this stuff is documented?

You can't. Advantage for forming a party, I guess.
