If you want an anti-thematic weapons for thief, you got greatsword and hammer that are fine examples since they are considered "heavy weapons" not befitting of a profession whose thematic lean on being "agile and stealthy". GW's assassin, whom thief seem to be the successor, had quite an array of spell/curse/enchantment making a spell casting e-spec a possibility. It goes even further than that; Assassins were often dual-classed into a caster profession (commonly Elementalist or Monk) to give their fast attacks access to "your attacks deal +X additional element damage" spells, and would then use a scepter or staff as a weapon switch option for ranged (often with an energy-hide loadout). The glut of fantasy "arcane thief" stereotypes supports scepters as a weapon option, too.
  2. OK, seriously, why do people write meta in all caps? Calculate META? What do you think the term means?
  3. Yes, rarely, and rarely for more than +50% damage.
  4. Ah, yes, please, limit the builds to specific races, why not. smh
  5. You said there was a viable power and condi build for each class. To claim that, we first need to agree on what viable means.

There is a viable condi and a viable power version for all professions - first dps role. There is also often (always?) a viable heals/support iteration - second role. In some cases, there is even dps versus support versus heals (guardian), where support can be support/heals or support/dps - third role. Sometimes, depending on the situation (e.g. WvW, fractals) a player needs to be flexible about what build to use in which situation. This isn't always about swapping from condi dps to power dps, or vice versa. What does "viable" mean? Can we define this first before we continue the discussion? Is "viable" equal to "can complete the campaign solo"? If so, a condition build with green Sentinel gear and Trooper runes is viable, regardless of player skill. Is "can play fractals 1-50 with a group of friends" viable? Well, any random assortment of rares and exotics will do here, as far as stats go, and actually knowing encounters becomes a factor. However, if we complicate things a bit, we soon arrive to the crux of the issue. "Can queue up to 100CM fractals with other randoms and complete them successfully" is a much higher bar, that leaves many, many builds in the dirt.

Unlocked them on my PvE main the day of release, realized my error. Turned into a pillar of salt. > > This. Placing them on a character that never use them. Ranting with support to discover that they are not refundable because templates are soulbound. Even now idk why they make new items who are not refundable. I was using some strong word during my struggle with support and I still believe Anet steal me. Didn't buy any gems since then and I will buy the cheapest option on expansion. Honestly, the soulbound gear and build templates are insulting. Will never even consider buying.
  9. The problem is "druid's terf". Druid's terf is druid. That's the teamcomp slot. Druid. No sense putting anything else there. It's always only ever just druid.
  10. Necro main, with Revenant a very recent character that I actually play a whole lot of, and have better gear on. I guess Ranger 3rd place. Trying to make myself like Engineer recently. Warrior 5th place, and Elementalist dead last. Don't have the other three at all.

There are loads of skills and traits that are not separated at all. There are some separated into PvE and PvP. Some even to WvW separately; some into three versions, some into PvE&WvWvsPvP, some PvEvsWvW&PvP.

  15. Rabid is fairly popular... but yes. Also, why are some stat sets that make 100% sense PVP-only? Deadshot, Wizard, Demolisher, all these would be great for a lot of the classes and specs. Why is there no power-based expertise option for non-damage conditions like vulnerability or weakness?
  16. This has been a splinter in my mind, yes. Please buff Ranger or Engineer to high health, coupled with compensations elsewhere. Personally? A full engineer rework including Just One Kit, high health, polarized weapon options, and scaling turrets is the answer. Ranger needs no HP buffs, honestly.
  17. Heavily reduce conditions. Focus more on power. Fix the numbers.
  18. So your advice for someone who likes playing Herald and wants to play Herald to.. fix the problem by playing something other than Herald? And... that's okay?
  19. "I don't play this class, but this one time, at pvp camp, I got killed by one."
  20. Replace Blight sigil on bow with Earth; Blight triggers around YOU, not the target. Take Vindication over Lasting Legacy; you'll see about the same personal Might, but your bombardments will hurt a whole lot more. Take anything over Glaring Resolve. Your stunbreak availability is contingent on floating 30 energy. And in PvE, the trait underperforms. Consider two or three pieces of Plaguedoctor gear; you're overcapping crit chance when at full endurance, concentration could help your boons, and both your heals have great Healing Power multipliers. Amulet and rings feel just right.
  21. It is entirely possible to level to 80 via crafting alone.
