We need customization outside of Specializations

Recommended Posts

I don't want another elite spec in Cantha. I would want something kind of like legendary powers in WoW Legion or in an ARPG. I feel like they could make them like another item slot that's kind of a really difficult to unlock thing like a legendary, but is account wide, you can only equip like 3-5 at once. It's fun getting a complete set of coherent stats, runes and sigils in this game, but I feel like there's something else needed to add more depth, because the stats and runes we pick feel very static. Something that can be swapped regularly, is a long term goal and impactful to gameplay would add something interesting imo.

You are looking for something that will never exist because in order to make the swapping actually meaningful you would need to overhaul the entire game to make swapping meaningful. Otherwise it just turns into another case of runes and sigils with a small set of good ones and the rest are mostly ignored.

* We need every weapon available for every class without needing an elite specialization active.

* Mount combat skills where we can use special combat skills while staying mounted each mount would have different abilities with each core class.

* Hero panel needs an Aura tab added so you can toggle what infusions and legendary effects you want to show or hide.

* Bring back the monthly achievements and make them broad so people would need to venture out to complete them and not farm one area.

* Account based reward track that is Experienced based so no matter what game mode you are playing as long as your earning xp it will count. Better rewards should take longer to get. Put fun things in there like legendary components, infusions, back pieces ect...

"Something that can be swapped regularly"

"Impactful to gameplay"

Pick one.

These are mutually exclusive traits. Either something can be swapped regularly, making it have little overall impact to gameplay because no options would be very strong. Or it provides impact to gameplay but you don't swap it very often, if at all, because there will be an outright best option to use (Same as with all other "customization" such as gear, runes, specializations, traits etc).

Even more so is if it was locked behind as you put it "a really difficult to unlock thing". Such a barrier immediately prevents it from having any tangible effect on gameplay, since if it did, then ANet would drown in all the tears of casuals whom are not able to put in the time to obtain such an impactful benefit (In addition, it would cause further segregation in Raids/Strikes as well as cause even more horrendous imbalance in WvW)

The thread is weird ... nothing stops you from swapping builds regularly ... they even have a mechanics that makes it 'easy' to do so.

I mean, content isn't made to 'care' or differentiation between one build or the other. That's LITERALLY the selling point of the game .. you play how you want.

Solution:

Introduce enchanted equipment that comes with fun traits installed in them but have rare quality stats to compensate.

E.G.

Enchanted valkerie boots

Gives you a double jump

Enchanted Grenedire's rifle

Resets the cool down of shrapnel grenade everytime you immobilize a for.

Loot to grind for that is fun but doesnt ruin the meta or overstep GW2's core loot philosophy.

Gw1 skill system is far easier to balance - ironically considering this was the rationale for our current inferior system.

With the vastly larger selection of skills and combinations, the system is harder to 'solve' into a meta, more counters exist for each technique, and players arent limited by initial class choice and gems investment when they can equip literally any skill in any order in the game. Problematic skills are easier to spot and thus balance and are vaiable and unique builds become a challenge and game in themselves.
