According to Support team statement...you read the forums. Now, going post after post on this forum regarding last patch (and previous ones) I noticed you have not mind to reply. So now I address directly to you.

 

PLEASE UNDO 1ST DECEMBER PATCH ON THIEF. Now, if pride wont let you do so, at least share with the community your "thoughts" on what is it you envision for structured PvP, and each class. So at least we can die on our frustration as players knowing what killed GW2 for good.

But the whole point of initiative is there are no CD's on weapon abilities (except sneak attacks like backstab).

Thief has been out for 8 years and revenant was the most recently released class. All Rev weapon skills have CD's. It's silly to change the core of what makes a class's identity all because they can't actually balance. Throwing a CD on one ability is just lazy design when it doesn't follow the pattern of everything else with the class.

 

So yeah.... It'll probably happen.

Compare current rev to release one and you see how much he was changed by cd's being increased to match those of other classes while still costing energy for some reason (wep skills used energy as tradeoff for the low cds) or the slapped cds on utility skills - originally only Glint had those due to her unique elite desing with facets.

So as you see they went the cheap route with rev changed the design completely and its nothing like it was originally sold as to me. Also rev was released in 2015, thats not recent at all.

I said it was the most recently released. As in the last. Anyways, I also think it's lazy to backtrack on Rev design by doing that but we're talking about Anet so...*shrug*

Regarding balancing or optimizing (according to ANet) SB5, someone already made a good suggestion. The current one is the easiest and most lazy change, and has nothing to do with "balance".

The time something has spent in effect has no factor on whether or not that thing is legitimately good. GW1, for instance, was a dance of interactions among a baseline, regenerating resource, activation times and recharge times. It lead to a paradigm of generally low cooldowns across the board which were kept in check by resource costs and the impact of their respective effects (of which there could be a myraid of different interactions). However, the game rarely, if ever, had any skills which went without a recharge. That was mainly because a skill without a recharge can potentially operate outside of the established rhythm of the game. Giving people the opportunity to process and counter an opponent's actions is key if you are going to create any level of competition in your game.

 

None of this is dependent on "b-but, this class has existed for X years!" because nobody measures success based exclusively on how long someone has been at something. Otherwise, something like the US Congress would be the most successful institution of all time rather than a rotting graveyard of doddering dirtbags who accomplish nothing over 40 years.

Yeah that clip came off pretty patronizing tbh and seemed like he's just one of the many who hates the class and was glad to see its one strength toned down. Did he mock engineers? I didn't see the stream but I'm guessing not because he didn't take the time to clip and post it.

Look, Ive read a bunch of threads, havent seen a single one complain saying 'nooo, teef is dead, no1s gonna play it'. No. But Ive seen multiple posts that said the vision of devs about how to 'balance' things in pvp is just wrong. And I agree with that.

 

Each patch just makes this game more and more boring, and more and more ppl leaving it. Not because of the nerfs, but because theyre changing core aspects of some classes. Its like blizzard would decide one day that hunter no longer has a pet. Or mage blink range gets halved. Like, no, just no.

 

Sb5, skill that wasnt changed for 8 years, everyone knows it, everyone plays it since 2012. And now for some reason you decided to nerf it without giving anything back. Nice. Its not changing damage or recently added things, youre changing basic mechanic. So what, you admit that the game was unbalanced since the very beginning? Or youre just too lazy to make any proper changes so you just throw random things on the table and buff/nerf.

 

Cant handle teef class design? Make IA castable once, maybe twice (ONLY if u pick certain traitline). Cant handle mirage class design? Cut one dodge (xD). Cant handle warrior class design? Make it a healbot (and also nerf some time later btw). Cant handle ele class design? Cut its damage to minimum, make it a full ham suport. Pure comedy

I literally don't get the baby rage with thief rn. There literally get stopped at every point no matter if it is their condi build or power build. Hell, I was even stomping them with dumb decap druid and that build isn't supposed to have much killing potential 1v1 ever.
