April 1st Patch Notes

Strider Pj.2193

Recommended Posts

Just a summary of the WvW section notes. Boy am I glad we are linked with Maguuma!!

**World vs. World**

**General**

When the outnumbered effect is applied, autobalancing will immediately take effect.

Added new mount race events featuring the warclaw to all WvW maps. Please show good sportsmanship and don't attack players who are waiting for the race to start.

**Eternal Battlegrounds**

Added a new environmental hazard to the Eternal Battlegrounds. Roving bands of feral warclaws sweep through the map, dealing high damage to players caught outside of a gradually shrinking circle centered on Stonemist Keep.

**Alpine Borderlands**

Added a new environmental hazard to the Alpine Borderlands. Players in the cold, high-altitude, low-oxygen environment of the snowy north will have the new frostbite condition applied to them. This condition periodically inflicts chilled and confusion.

**Desert Borderlands**

Added a new environmental hazard to the Desert Borderlands. Players who spend longer than 10 minutes outdoors in the Desert Borderlands will have the new dehydration condition applied to them. This condition periodically inflicts crippled and torment and will be accompanied by hallucinations of enemy mirages.

This isnt something added in the patch, since people have been claiming they only see mirages roaming and no other classes for a long time.

Scantily clad toons (looking at all you female humans) will have double stacks of chilled.

Scantily clad toons (yes the same female humans) will have their skin tone darken by one shade for every 2 hours of play time in the map (during daylight hours)

Edit: red haired toons will also take burn damage.

I would love to see the bit about ranger pets attacking the ranger implemented. But not just in a specific case like where the pet is commanded to attack it's own species, make this a core skill (perhaps even a down skill) available to all non Rangers and only available in wvw of course. I'd even pay thousands of rank points just to be able to turn their pets against them.

I actually wouldn't mind have the map mechanic of the borderlands (aka ruins/bloodlust) turned into a rollerbeetle race with a leaderboard that rewards the top 3 places (server-specific) with tiers of current bloodlust (3 and 5 ruins held) plus the WvW weekend event bonus should one server manage to hold all 3 top spots.

Basically for each person your server has in top 3, you get a tier of bloodlust. This could be a mapwide mechanic, or specific to each map.

We could the have "regular" WvW'ers and mist racers, a great way for PvE players to enter WvW and a change of pace for those tired of the grind. There probably would have to be a queue system for those wanting to participate (say 10 racers per race), and if someone has a winning a streak it will change when they go offline. But you'd need 3 top racers to keep your bonus. The races would go back to back as long as enough people are queued. If not it waits until enough players are present.

Even better yet OS could be reworked for this express purpose, allowing you to give your server bonuses by participating and winning races without it affecting map population.

It plays into server pride, you actually contribute and it already plays so well into the bloodlust mechanic and map layout while being very much a PvP(server v server too)-centric aspect of the game.

If the racing was set in OS, the old ruins could instead function as sentry-points tracking enemies (not mark them) in intervals and maybe drain some supply each time, and to top it of disallow mounting. Make them tactical and beneficial to hold, not just a numbers bonus allowing roamers to spend most of their time here.
