All such thirdparty addons needs to go.

I'm not exclusively talking about 3rd party stuff. You think stuff in game is exempt from "causing" toxicity?

so people using arc dps to harass bad players is a bannable offense, it's insulting and offensive.

it's not an in game feature to see other people dps, even if it's not cheating it's used to harm people.

Using arcdps to check your own dps is a thing, now to check people dps just because they are doing 2k less dps than you and harassing them is another.

so anet should follow the rules and start banning people using it.

**fun fact**: people say the game don't have trinity, it's worse than that, the game is all about dps and healers, anet made alot of prefix to items and people want just to force vipers/zerk/harrier.

i saw people harassing others on fractals just because they did "low dps" even if the fractal was done without a death and was easy, it should be a bannable offense.

That has everything to do with harassment (n.b. group-kicking someone from a party you all put together in good faith is not harassment) and nothing to do with ArcDPS, though.

So kick and block with no explanation so they can't be offended by anything you've said to them. Got it. Thanks. It's the new "polite!"

Remove people.

That'd get rid of toxicity!

A player that joins a group created for a specific purpose, without fulfilling that purpose, already embarrassed, insulted and abused the group, so I don't see an issue with the group fighting back in that case. Otherwise they should add a new report function: "disrespect towards the group" and offer harsh punishments to those that harass groups like that.

yes, last time my group saw a bad player talking about dps we kicked him at the last boss without saying anything, we did it without a problem with one less player and his dps meter, no offense was needed.

So I am certain you listed in your LFG: if you discuss DPS we’ll kick you’.

Feels good, right? But do keep in mind that's a two-way street and it isn't guys like that having a good cry on the forums every other day. Be careful what you wish for.

And its likely that without the dps meter that same person would have been just as toxic about something else they think was causing the issue ? Classes? Not enough AP? Weapons etc...any arbitrary thing..you name it they would have picked it. It **literally** happened in the past.

People are acting like toxicity and dps meters are exclusively mutual i.e one doesn't exist without the other.

Naa. That would be "abusive". Better to not communicate your intentions and then kick people for whichever behaviors your group agrees (silently!) are unacceptable. Sometimes that'll mean kicking the guy who complains about dps when you're clearing content without issue. But most of the time it'll be some poor noob who doesn't know any better and will be none-the-wiser when he gets kicked and blocked because we're being "polite" to each other in accordance with policy.

How did you quantify this player was bad if no one in your group has objective data to base it on? without a meter and the combat report that comes with it, in a combat scenario, I can feasibly see someone counting the number of downs a particular player incurred, the number of times they were grossly out of position, or similar major action, but beyond that you're at best confirmation biasing yourself.

is this game about only one variable? damage? most of the times the dps meter players are the ones dying and failing the mechanics, because they go glass cannon so they can yell at others "low dps" and harass them while other players get killed trying to ress him, also they never evade boss hits, so their dps can skyrocket then calling healers bad for not saving them.

Getting downed craters your personal DPS, though. And the meters/reports do show that. For raid bosses you can even graph out exactly who's failing mechanics when, if you want to.

Also, there are quite a few mechanics that deal %-based health damage or just one-shot you regardless of Vitality/Toughness, which tends to devalue any kind of defense in raids. The sheer amount of incoming damage over time means dodging and healer output are more important than your total hp pool. (The Toughness-tanking mechanic enforcing a tight constraint on everyone's stats doesn't help, either.)

In Fractals, the highest-DPS speed-clear groups are trying to minimize reliance on dedicated healers. If you've got a full Healbrand, it's because you value smooth and safe over fast and perfect. (Which is why, e.g., I'm playing Healbrand myself.)

IKR?

Of course, the guy helped up until the last boss. This is even more toxic, but hey, some people just can’t be bothered to communicate.

The toxic casuals and toxic raider talk before dps meter the groups was even more restricted, no necro no rangers dps meter proved they were viable. Toxic raiders is a result of toxic casuals mostly alot of ppl join in to get carried and gets upset then commander dont want to eventually commander gets feed up and put requirements

I had a good pickup run the other day. We had power reaper, 2 power soulbeasts, condi weaver and a healbrand. T4 dailies + recs in an hour. No problems. It's sad to think that without a tool like arcdps we might go back to the days where it's hard to find groups running comps like this.

I mean honestly, if I had to explain my build before every fractal run I'd never get a group! "Fire/arcane sword/focus weaver with dire stats? Isn't that like a WvW roamer build? Yeah, sooo anyway...we'll be in touch!" But if they can see me push 30k+ dps on quick burn fights like Subject 6 and Old Tom and we're able to bypass the mechanics on T4 without issue, most groups aren't going to give me any crap about it.

It seems pretty simple to me. Arcdps is just a tool and so are some people! You shouldn't feel the need to demean people over poor performance (whether they are causing a problem or not!) just like you shouldn't expect a carry when you're not doing what it takes to pull your weight in more difficult group content.

The thing I really want to get across is that the most hostile and judgemental players, the ones who really flip out when a run goes sideways even a little, also tend not to be very thoughtful or clear-headed across the board. Taking away Arc isn't going to alter their behavior, because fundamentally it's not about any kind of objective, measurable thing.

Ofcourse you dont since its kinda easy to see you fail the encounter, now seeing witch one of the 3-6 dps that are failing is not as easy right?

depends where you draw the line of "harassing".

verbally abusing and flaming someone for low dps is 100% harassing and should have consequences.

asking a player to either perform better or leave the squad (or even kicking him) is not.

"respecting the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game" is not a one-way-street.

_edit_:

i'm writing this because i constantly see "casual" players complaining about being harassed, when theyre really just reminded that their skill doesnt match the squad's expectations.

i have seen players join T4 and CM groups and do literally **nothing** with the group still doing fine without deaths, simply because the other 4 players were skilled enough and worked their arses off. when adressing the issue, the usual response it "it worked out fine, whats your problem?!"

ignorance and leeching should also be bannable offenses...
